Lol no bump doesn't go for a bit if time if your lucky it will be around 10 days but if your normal could be a month I have been told second baby bumps take longer to go down Aswell oh joy!
I did miss my bump last time but baby soon distracts you but miss those wiggles that now keep you up at night
I think this will be our last it's been so hard this time and financially we can't afford another so DH is dead against another I always wanted 3 so feel we'll have a chat but his reasons are valid and we will have 2 so very lucky.
Finding it hard to enjoy the last bits of being pregnant but I really should cherish my bump as its probably the last time I'll have a baby bump (rather than a pie and pudding bump) x

Oodsigma · 20/02/2013 12:56

That's what I was thinking of stormy!

Sure start grants are now only for first babies.

Ohhhh sorry for the HPG I remember getting it after I had ds in 2010 so when friend reminded me I thought ohhh bonus!!!
Alas as per usual everything that we use to get has been scraped! Never mind I'm sure those that need will get some kind bonus! Although the fruit and veg vouchers is a good idea after all the " meat" scandal!!!!!
Ood- so sorry your bored I def understand that hate being just at home not motivated to do things I should like shread loads of paper, or iron some clothes so I don't have to iron when I finally escape my prison I mean home!!! ( don't like going out alone) just I'm case!!!
Sorry for all the " finance" woes some of you are going through! I can't believe I just sent my matb1 to HR today! Opppppps!!!
Hope it gets there!
Have scan tomorrow to see if baby is up or down!!!! I'm praying all is well!

Countmyblessings · 20/02/2013 15:26

It's good to know who's due when!

Oodsigma · 20/02/2013 15:42

I did all my shredding months ago when I first got signed off. Everything's filed/sorted cupboards cleaned out/finances up to date , pretty much anything I can do sitting or laying was done by January!

Hello, I hope you ladies don't mind me popping in; I was on the March 2010 antenatal thread and I just saw this one in Active Convos. I can't believe that it's 3 years since I was where you all are now. Not long to go! Best of luck to you all :)

StormyBrid · 20/02/2013 17:21

The fruit and veg vouchers are a godsend. I swear, they're the only thing standing between me and scurvy these days, as left to my own devices I would probably be living on toffee crisps right now.

plonko · 20/02/2013 18:24

Ooooh toffee crisps... I developed an addiction to them in the second trimester.

Speaking of food and flat tummies, I'm starting to get a bit worried about weight gain. I know it's probably only normal and it'll be the last thing on my mind when I'm a new mum, but it's been a source of great anxiety in the past. Long story short, I used to be fat, worked my arse off to lose it by walking everywhere and being very careful with diet (no bread, lots of fruit but no fad dieting), lost 3 stone and was a very happy size 10. For the last two years I've had an active job, manual handling on my feet all day etc. I have eaten everything in sight throughout pregnancy, no idea how much I weigh but I feel like a heifer.

So I was wondering, does anyone have any new mummy weight loss tips? I hear bfing can be very effective, and I do plan to be as active as is reasonable as soon as I feel adequately recovered. Those who've managed it before, tell me your secrets!!

GrottyPotPlant · 20/02/2013 18:47

Ood very envious of your tidy paperwork etc- any chance you fancy starting on mine, tee hee? I'm too zonked to be bored now, and there is so much crap in this flat that needs getting rid of! But I'd be climbing the walls if I had had to get signed off ages ago, hopefully the end is nearly in sight for you now...

Very excited today as both the Bednest and my e-bayed sling arrived today. I now feel (technically) ready, although, as noted above, I really don't think there is room in this flat for one more item, let alone a whole new person. The bednest is going to involve a major bedroom rearrange.
I'm trying to offload something substantial each day, either to the charity shop or Freecycle or the bin, but haven't done too well yet today (looks around hawkishly at contents of flat).
Baby is going to have to stay put for a few more weeks so I can make some room...

Jojo and Plonko how is the bouncing going? I was absent mindedly bouncing about on my ball today, which set off some ever so mild periody feelings. I thought of you and stopped sharpish! I could do with just a week or so more please!!

Oodsigma · 20/02/2013 18:56

grotty it's only cos I've been off work since the start of Dec and was on restricted duties before that ( so no late nights etc)

OP posts:
plonko · 20/02/2013 19:35

Grotty I wish the ball could have an instant effect! I'm sick of the bastard thing now but still forcing myself onto it throughout the day. Midwife said baby was back to back at 34 weeks but has now turned, I put it down to weeks spent on the ball!
Sounds like you're nesting like a good un though. I'm amazed at how much I've had to rearrange. My first port of call was sorting out household paperwork. It was bloody boring, took forever and made want to start smoking again but I'm so glad it's out the way now I can't concentrate on anything for more than 40 seconds.

(Ooh a bird...)

JoJoBella84 · 20/02/2013 19:53

grotty I had a sweep yesterday afternoon, was quite positive about the whole thing, it was painless, my cervix is soft and short but closed. I've lost my plug and am still having period pains but no progression!!!
It was slightly bizarre when the mw announced she was touching his head! Crazy!
40+3 today and getting ever frustrated at the breathlessness and general need for my lung capacity back :)
I've been ready for too long I think! Plus I was convinced he'd be early!!

StealthToddler · 20/02/2013 22:32

plonko bf is the easiest way to lose the weight.... That combined with taking baby out for lots of walks. I have bf all mine exclusively first 6 months (which I know I was lucky to be able to do) but still needed to eat tonnes to keep up with them and the weight came off naturally over that time without any extra real effort.... All down to hungry babies. The problem is when you stop bf you need to cut down on the calories!!

Oodsigma · 20/02/2013 22:52

Don't keep biscuits in the house voice of experience. Bf encourages snacking. Have stacks of grabbable healthy stuff

Hello all. He finally made it. Am sat trying to teach him to feed as he's a bit slow on the uptake but he's perfect.was born on the 18th at 2.50 after much labour a healthy 6lb despite being early. I however am a mess as have had about 4hrs sleep since waters broke. Hopefully home tomorrow so should have a bit more help and less interruptions. If I can just get him to breastfeed I'll be a happy bunny. Thanks for all the kind wishes. Only had chance to read a few will try to cstch up when not propping eyes open.

Oodsigma · 21/02/2013 06:32

Congrats zigwig :)

leniwhite · 21/02/2013 07:05

Yay Zigwig! Huge congrats Grin hope the BF'ing happens, and you get some deserved sleep soon. Well done!

pudtat · 21/02/2013 07:14

well done zigwig. Hope all starts to come together for you soon, enjoy your little boy!

Countmyblessings · 21/02/2013 07:25

Zigzag- huge congrats and welcome to the world your 6lb baby boy! That's amazing as he came at 36 weeks!! Whoop!!!!
BF will settle its just the getting there that's sometimes hard and takes constantly trying!!!! ( ahhh new baby cuddles) I'm so Jel!!!!!!
Repacked my bag yesterday what a chore I can't believe the amount of stuff in this middle sized suitcase!!!! Still need to put snacks in which I've bought but feel like a pig so have left out for now!!!! Although they are somewhat healthy oat bars, low cal crisps, but maybe the mini mars bars may need to be re thought!!!!!!!!!!
All this weight talk for me is just too early for me to think about as I don't know if I will get a VB or be CS - will find out how baby is positioned today at scan 37 weeks and praying all is good!

Countmyblessings · 21/02/2013 07:27

Sorry had a little snigger at the thought of you guys " ball bouncing" lol!!!
Have to get my laughs where I can!

GrottyPotPlant · 21/02/2013 12:01

Congratulations Zigwig! Fingers crossed you get home tomorrow, and can snuggle down for some lovely babymooning in your own space.

jojo and Plonko Monday is a full moon- so that might get us going... (I've just arranged several lovely little social things for next week, so have probably now engaged sod's law against me too, as I am still hoping he'll stay put for another week or so. Never mind)

Count chocs and mars bars are just the thing for labour, apparently- you need all the energy you can get! Lollypops are meant to be good too- lots of calories, not much volume (given that your innards will be quite busy at the time)

Emsyboo · 21/02/2013 12:19

Congrats zigwig enjoy your perfect boy I struggled with breastfeeding at first but you'll get there ended up feeding for 11 months :) so happy for you and a brilliant size for 36 weeks.

plonko have heard breastfeeding helps you lose weight but didn't work that way for me I started putting the weight on but probably allowed myself too much cakes using bf as an excuse.
However getting the pram out and marching DS everywhere helped me tone up and I started integrating fitness classes when DS was about 5 months. Once they are moving you run round after them so that helps I was in better shape before this pregnancy than my wedding day much fitter from running round after a toddler Smile

count I'm in the same boat have scan today to determine if it's ELCS or VB can't wait to have a plan in place! Good luck for your scan today x

Countmyblessings · 21/02/2013 15:39

Hi all - well c section has been booked so my baby will be here on the 4/3/13 -eeeeeee ekkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!
Have to go put more stuff in suitcase as I will be in hospital for a few days at least!!!! Booooooooo!!!!!!

Countmyblessings · 21/02/2013 15:43

Emsy- good luck on your scan!!!
Disco- how's it goin with you ?
Any excuse for chocolates although will be eating them on the ward after CS!!!!!
Been told I can't even pick up baby for 2 weeks r they mad?????
6 weeks recovery is that for real?????
All those who have had a CS pls tell me that's not so!!!

leniwhite · 21/02/2013 16:36

Count - 2 weeks? I have heard that number before but surely it depends on complications etc?

My friend with lupus has gone into labour today Grin and I had an MRI this morning which was pretty unpleasant - i was literally jammed into the tube with no room to move at all for over an hour. God knows how larger people fit in?? Got some great pictures, his head is bigger than average and in the video we saw his eyes looking around, very weird.

That knocked me out so been asleep for two hours this afternoon - also puked up my cuppa this morning - just came straight out!
