New thread! I've lost my lovely spreadsheet so if someone can add in the stats and update, that would be wonderful; I'm sure someone else had a spreadsheet that was as anally organised as me

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bealos · 01/12/2012 12:06

Hey creepy it's totally up to you. Sometimes things are scarier than the actual reality though - as you're not sure what to expect.

Just remember, there's no 'right way' of doing things in pregnancy, labour or bringing up your kids, so whatever people tell you it's still all up to you.

bealos · 01/12/2012 12:11

As in, 'some things are scarier in your head than the reality' ifykwim...

I am noticing more and more typos and non-sensical things in my emails at the moment!

mrsbugsywugsy · 01/12/2012 13:03

Tiny glad that Megan is doing well

Milk my iron levels were 9.5 at 28 weeks. I've been put on three iron tablets a day and I guess they will do another test at my next appointment to make sure they are going up. I am a veggie which probably doesn't help, although I have been trying to eat lots of apricots and spinach and eggs.

There is some interesting stuff on iron levels in pregnancy on the homebirth website: www.homebirth.org.uk/hb.htm. Basically they suggest that low iron levels in pregnancy aren't necessarily a problem, but I don't know enough about the science behind it to judge, so I will continue to take the tablets as I'm not finding the side effects too awful.

Well done on the presentation bealos. I hate doing presentations too and feel like a nervous wreck, but have been told that I look really confident when I do it. On that basis I suspect that everyone who looks confident is secretly terrified.

Birdies · 01/12/2012 14:40

complicated, spring and diecio really glad you went in and got reassurance re baby movements.

bunty DH has bought me a gorgeous necklace from reddirect after your tip off, and as I got the discount I still get more pressies!

tiny I'm glad everything's going well with little Megan and as someone else said, it's perfectly normal to get really emotional a few days after giving birth.

creepy I haven't heard if those classes but I bet you enjoy it and I'm sure others will be nervous too.

bealos I've never noticed mistakes in what you write - I think we're prob all as dappy as each other whilst pregnant!

I went to see Kevin Bridges last night with DH and my mum and dad looked after DD. it was good but I always really miss DD and even though she has loads of fun with her grandma and grandpa, she wouldn't go to sleep until I got home. Am now a bit worried about how we will cope without each other when I'm in hospital having DD1! (she doesn't go to nursery as I gave up work). I know I need to get used to it though as I won't have as much time when I've got two. Anyone else worried about how you will devote as much time to your first DC when new babba arrives?

Bunny222 · 01/12/2012 18:57

Hi all. Havent been on for a bit.
Newbie your doctor sounds rubbish and unsupportive. Fancy not twigging you're actually pregnant! Surely this should flash up on their screens as soon as you go in?!

My diabetes test came back clear, phew. So just need to keep away from that chocolate perhaps. Nothing more sinister since losing a bit of the cervical plug (sorry - TMI) so am hoping hoping hoping that is it, and that bump is staying put until January. Fingers croseed. Have another growth scan a week on Monday can't wait to see him/ her again. And start Mat leave on 14th, can't wait as work continue to be a pain (including emailing me today - ITS SATURDAY!)

I see a few of you have noticed a change in movement. Mine has been much quieter over the last three days, not kicking regularly like before. Am still feeling a bit of movement, mainly when I play music or have a bath, but nothing like normal. Dont know whether to be worried or not. DH says maybe he's moved position.

Is it ok so long as you can feel something... even if its soft...??

AppleCrumples · 01/12/2012 21:06

birdies how old is your dd? I remember being really worried about loving them both when I was having ds2. I was worried I couldn't love anyone as much as ds1 but you do! As for coping with them it just happens (largely because you have no choice). Newborns gen sleep a lot and I always used naps to spend time with ds1.

Now I am worrying that 4 will be too much! Dcs have been playing up today and I ended up in tears and thinking how the hell can I cope with all this and a new baby?!

newbie my dr failed to notice I was pg too, you have to wonder how hard it is to read the notes first!

creepy we did parentcraft with ds1 but so long ago I can't remember much! I am v shy and there was no need to say too much if you didn't want to but it helps to be around people also waiting for first baby so worth it for that!

newbie6 · 01/12/2012 22:50

I know! Still cannot believe how useless doctor was. Still loaded with this cold and wondering what to do. The coughing is really hurting my stomach and think I have now gone through 4 boxes of tissues! Am thinking I should call doctor on Monday but make sure I get a different one as whilst the useless one said I could go on antibiotics, he seemed so clueless I don't trust his advice at all? Do you think it's normal for me to still have a cold after nearly 2 weeks? My worry is it just doesn't seem to be clearing at all, I don't feel awful but the coughing and catarrh etc is horrid?

Hope everyone else is doing ok and for those that feel a lack of movement I think quite a few of us are now experiencing this, i think as long as you feel something that's ok but like others have said if it is a lot less, best to get checked out.

X

katolla · 02/12/2012 01:12

Is it ok to have Braxton hicks for 35 hours? They started yesterday afternoon. Still don't hurt though they seem to be getting more frequent, maybe 4 an hour :/

djvesi · 02/12/2012 03:39

newbie defo see another doc until you're satisfied with your treatment!

katolla maybe you should just double check with a doc or hosp that you're not getting started? Maybe you have a high threshold for pain?? Oh wouldn't that be lovely?

I am loaded with awful sneezy flu that just wont go away and have noticed this week that things are getting much more uncomfy. Bump is getting past the point of easily manageable, pain in hips and lower back and can't find a good sleeping position despite lots of chunky pillows to prop me up. Bump hurts when I spend too long out and about during the day. Tell me it isn't just me??? Sigh

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 02/12/2012 09:09

Glad to help, birdies! I am worrying about being apart from DS whilst in hospital. All going well, I could probably be out within the day or so, but I want to get feeding properly established, and have some time to myself with her. I've never been apart from DS for more than an overnight, seeing him immediately before I go, so I am freaking slightly. He's my baby boy! However, if we make this wedding with me still pregnant it'll be a good practice, as that'll be 2 nights and 1 day away.

katolla at the least I'd phone your midwife. I think they say you shouldn't have more than 4 in an hour, but I've had more than that, and she's still in there. However, not for the length of time you're talking about.

Do they ease/stop if you do the opposite of what you're doing? Ie if you're walking, lie down, if you're lying down, have a gentle walk. Also, take some paracetamol and see if they stop/ease.

Hormonalhell · 02/12/2012 09:14

I'm still feeling a lot of movement, but I think I have a very active baby as he been the same throughout. I was even asking him to stop last night cos I'm feeling very sore all over!

Is anyone having trouble walking? I am really struggling towards end of day, really hurts in pelvic area Sad

happyhow · 02/12/2012 12:30

I'm still feeling loads as well. I think I have a very active baby too... I suppose as there gets to be less room in there, the movements might change a bit.

Currently trying to do a mammoth clean of our flat before we move the last of our stuff out today. Bit strange to be leaving this place but very excited to get into our house when it is eventually finished. Should only have 10 days of living out a suitcase... Fingers crossed...

I also have to say, it's surprisingly easy to switch off from work once you're on maternity leave... Totally the right decision to go off early. Smile

happyhow · 02/12/2012 12:32

Hormonal, I've had difficulty walking for ages... Once I get going I'm usually alright but I empathise on it being really uncomfortable.

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 02/12/2012 13:34

Xmas Envy happy

I'm also struggling to walk. Made the mistake of having a look around town today whilst DH was attempting to buy Christmas presents. Now cuddled up on the couch with achy hips and pelvis. House bound until I pop, I think!

Pascha · 02/12/2012 13:43

Widget's movement has changed in the last two or three weeks to much more lolling and rolling and schmoozing round and much less of the vicious stabs and kicks. Except when I've eaten chocolate then it all goes mad for a few minutes. I suppose its to do with there being much less room in there now.

I'm getting some trouble later in the day with the problem of not enough room in there for food, baby, wind, digested food (ahem) and full bladder just tops me off. Usually if I go to the loo one way or the other enough space is created for everything to shift back into just about comfortable position but its a bit tough, especially when Widg is lying diagonally and I get a hand just behind my right pelvis pushing it outwards (ouch).

Everything feels very draggy downwards after being on my feet for a while which is uncomfortable, but no actual pain thankfully. I do feel sorry for all of you struggling with spd/sciatica/achy hips etc.

On a fun note my bellybutton is still just an inny but I can pop it out at will Smile

Am 36 weeks today. four weeks to go, two preferably but I bet it will be six...

Pascha · 02/12/2012 13:46

Bunty I had a look at red direct but they only seem to have pacapods on there. Maybe next time.

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 02/12/2012 14:08

pascha I get that, something behind my right or left side of my pelvis pushing outward - it is the most bizarre feeling!

Here are the baby bags, only pacapods and babybeau, but if you like them, they are a bargain!

I lost a bit of plug yesterday (tmi), although it was just thick mucus, no blood streaking. I'm hoping that means an earlier arrival.

Probably not! I think my previous hope of the 14th is now wildly optimistic. I think she'll be Christmas Day to spite me out of my dinner at this rate Xmas Wink

pmgkt · 02/12/2012 16:07

Walking just starts off my braxton hicks, maybe if I walk for long enough it will start labour! I get really bad rib pain every afternoon and evening. I really should get remeasured for a bra but as I'm already 36+3 I think I'll just take it off at night and then get measured for my feeding bras in a few weeks.

Pascha · 02/12/2012 16:25

I like the babybeaus

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 02/12/2012 16:37

The babybeaus are lush. I've went for the Eden. Should arrive this week. Ridiculously excited.

dieciocho · 02/12/2012 16:54

TMI like Bunty, I lost a bit of the plug this week, but mw told me to monitor it and not to do anything unless it increased/waters broke/pain started etc. So all seems fine now.

Biggest "pain" for me is my lungs - sneezing, laughing, yawning all make my chest ache like mad. There's no space left in here! Stop growing!

Hormonalhell · 02/12/2012 17:12

Yes Happy and Bunty I think I should be John Wayne's body double!! What annoys me is DP races ahead when he knows I can only walk at snail's pace now Angry

Just come out of hosp after thinking on Thursday night my waters had gone. There was a clear puddle on the floor which emanated out of my jammy bottoms but when I gets to hosp apparently it's just my bladder and my cervix not open for business. They kept me in anyway tho Angry for observation was sooo fed up!!

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 02/12/2012 22:08

I would quite like a baby soon, please. I hate these last few weeks. Safe, and happy in my arms, with an easy birth and no issues - not too much to ask, right? Xmas Wink

Going to dig out the pump and start expressing colostrum tomorrow I think. Had a quick dabble with the crappy handheld, and got quite a few drops with literally 20 seconds of effort, so I'm hoping this means ill be on for a good supply this time

If it also helps to get madam out a bit earlier, well, that's a happy side effect!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend

allchik · 02/12/2012 22:33

Ooo thats interesting bunty can you start pumping now?(Im 35wks) got quite flat nips so would be interested to see if I could!? Get me used to the equipment!

My bubs quite active too,n keep getting twinges in my foofoo, think the pressure is building! Also phoned the midwife unit as was sure I leaked sum waters earlier, but now not so sure...just think im looking for any signs that il give birth near the 37wk mark!

3 more wks till maternity...final straight!x

Birdies · 02/12/2012 22:45

I like the new name bunty! Tell us more about the being able to get colostrum out now - I thought it arrived only on day of birth. And isn't there a limited supply? I know I know I should know all this but I remember for me it only appeared on the day and then my milk came in three days later.

Can anyone who already has DCs recommend a good rocker for baby?

apple my DD is 16 months. I sometimes feel guilty for having another so soon but I'm determined to try to give her as much attention as possible so she doesn't feel left out.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, night night!
