Hey everyone,
We decided on a name for our little one - Dillon George. We're smitten - and like you thumb being kept awake at night for feeds - or colicky wind pains (someone mentioned infacol - i may have to get some...)
Finally have some time to update my birth story. period-type pains started at 4am weds, went on all day and then at 6pm mild contractions began. by 10, they were pretty strong so we phoned the birth centre. they tried to put us off going in as it's my first, understandably... but by 12.30 everything was very strong, but still they tried to put us off going in... then my waters broke and finally they said come in at 1,30am.
So we walked to the birth centre (usually just over 5mins, took us 20. Thank god it was the middle of the night and no one around.) by the time i arrived i thought i might need to push soon but wasn't able to articulate that as i wasn't sure. We had to wait in the reception/hallway for more than 30 minutes,
me kneeling on the floor yowling while stretcher emergencies and other visitors were passing by... horrible to wait and to feel like I really needed to start pushing soon.
Eventually i was called in to be assessed and I felt i need to go to the loo again while waiting - and realised i didn't need the loo - i could feel the baby's head! I went into the hallway and said this and all the MWs looked at each other and suddenly all was action. They checked and I was fully dilated, wheeled in a rush to the pool room (no chance of actually using it of course, ah well) desperately trying not to push and then Dillon was born 7 minutes later.
2 pushes, 2nd degree tear. but it all happened so quickly i didn't have time to think about pain relief or anything.
Mammoth post, finally had 2 hands free to type!
Hope you are all well, recovering from the births and hope anyone still waiting patiently doesn't have much longer to wait.
Do we have a postnatal thread yet?
