Read your birth story, crazy- you're so brave just giving birth on gas and air at home! Well done!
And restless legs (was this mickey?) I'm getting this weird feeling sometimes that my legs aren't my own?! Like right now as I write this!
39 weeks today- had a midwife appt. she yawned all the bloody way through it and thought I was only 38 weeks and when I pointed out I was 39 she was like "oh, are you?!".
I was sooo disappointed that I'm still only 4/5 engaged despite rushing around like a madwoman for DD1's birthday party at the weekend! Yet I believe on your second they can engage at the last minute.
So she's suggested a sweep next Friday, my due date. Last time they didn't give me one until I was 10 days over (and it did work).
Anyone had a sweep that's worked like immediately? I went into labour about 24 hours after it last time. Confused

bella2012 · 05/10/2012 21:04

oh no huffle that is rubbish!! What are you going to do? Oh I am so so sorry! Xx

hufflepuffle · 05/10/2012 21:54

Oh my oh my. Poor girl has possible clot on lung. On treatment, CT scan tmrw. Couldn't write this scenario! This is original person who thought on mend. I working tmrw. Hav found someone local available at short notice and will be using her from next wk until we see what happens. Actually I am not nearly as stressed as might expect!!! That's all that hypnobollocks you know!!! (excluding the flood of tears early this afternoon!!)

Night all!! Xx

Angelico · 05/10/2012 22:18

Huffle sending a sympathy hug - for you and for poor girl with clot Confused

Smorgs great list of medical goodies even though I don't really know what half of them are for Blush On the soothers front - magic SIL also got us some Nuk soothers which are a good shape and even 10 day old bean can have a good go at them. We're only using them in Baby Whisperer way but they do sometimes help her fall asleep, no doubt about it.

Here's keeping fingers crossed for a half decent night of sleep...

Beeblebear · 06/10/2012 01:48

Well dh work situation nearly sorted. He is at least back to work today. Still getting union lawyer on our side to clear his name with the other associations.

zara I also only have 4 work days left. All next week training my replacement feels good but also a bit rushed. So ready to be done work though.

angelico what is the baby whisperere way for using a paci?
hufflefeel your pain re locum. We had a lady start in our iffice, worked a week off for two back for a couple then ovf a week and a half- back for a few days fhen off the next12 of 18 days. Now she is on short term leave for next three months. Think she had a dr friend writing her notes. And each week was seemingly different spin the wheel of mayhemproblems. Cold, flu- root canal, @oman issues, you name it, waiting for furnace man, cable guy, etc.

The real piss ov is I used to do what she did for a job, but they brought her in to take over as they thought I wasn't doing a good enough job I guess and were paying her way way more.now she is gone, they are still paying her and i'm still doing her job aPLUS my ne stuff. ...and breathE....

bella2012 · 06/10/2012 08:36

glad DH's work thing is on the way to being sorted beeble. Thinking of you both.

Huffle glad you have got something sorted. Hope work isn't too bad today. What a shame for you having to go in once you had finally said goodbye to it all.

Lizzie I can't believe your midwife was so untogether! It doesn't exactly fill you with confidence. I am jealous of your sweep at 40 weeks though. I aske mine and she said that she def wouldn't do one until 41. Maybe I am just impatient!

I saw mine yesterday and to my surprise she said that I am 3/5ths engaged which I didn't thinkI was at all. But the baby is so so active that she agreed he/she might not stay there. My bump has not grown in the two weeks since I have seen her either, but she said this is probs down to its head being much further down so there is less baby in the bump. I can't help worrying about that though. Has anyone else had that?

I had to take my little DS with me to the appointment and he was such a little angel. He just sat in the corner colouring in quietly (which is not normal for my little whirlwind) and I was so proud of him. I feel so exhausted looking after him all on my own, but am also cherishing every moment of our last week or so just the two of us. Feel so ridiculously sad that he wont be my baby any more. I know that is ridiculous, but he has been the centre of our lives for 3 years and it is just so hard to move on. He will be at nursery 5 mornings a week from January and that feels like he is getting so grown up already. I know it seems illogical, but I feel like this baby couldn't possibly be as amazing as my DS as to me, he is so special and funny and cute. I know I will feel differently post-birth, I am just a hormonal nobber!

crazypaving · 06/10/2012 10:13

bella BIG hug re DS - I feel exactly the same!! Now DS2 is here i just want to cry every time i see DS1 cos i can see how his world has turned upside down! it's really hard but trying to keep perspective and think how great it's going to be in the future.

Elpis · 06/10/2012 10:18

bella2012 That's exactly how I felt about DD before DS was born! But she's so affectionate towards him (in a slightly heavy-handed way) that I feel better for having given her a brother. Biscuit

CWest30 · 06/10/2012 10:28

I really, honestly cannot believe this!

So my bp stabalised yesterday, they discharged me at 2pm, and I spent the afternoon with baby in ICU.

Went home to a delighted DS, had dinner and put him to bed. Vision went blurry, felt dizzy and hot so contacted the out of hrs Dr. He made me go sy
traight over, and by 1 am, I was back on the ward again.

There are no words to describe how pissed off I am right now. Twice in 2 weeks I have been discharged and had to come back. Apparently it can take up to 6 weeks for pregnancy induced high bp to stabalise!! Great.

Midgetm · 06/10/2012 10:33

Bella I know exactly what you mean and although I have not given in yet to the sobbing I feel so protective towards DD who suddenly seems so grown up. She asked me how I could still love her now she was a big girl - nearly broke my heart - must be wondering if I will love the baby more. However, she has a lot of love in her so I know she will love him when he comes - just may need to be extra sensitive about including her in everything.

Ok I like to think I haven't moaned too much so far and feel my pregnancy has been largely rather smooth but can I just say I am so over pregnancy! I am nesting like a lunatic - rather too late as I am too massive to do anything properly, I am aching everywhere, head, hips, back. But can't stop frantically buying things, cleaning things and painting things. Having BH's every two seconds. Can only sit on a birthing ball as bump so huge it cuts of the circulation in my legs. I know when consultant offers induction next week I am likely to bite her hand off despite always thinking this was not the right route for such a big bambino. Cherry thanks for checking on my dilemma - and as you can tell from my rant, I am still undecided. Consultant will make me wait till the week after next if I go ELCS and that seems like a lifetime right now. I am too small to be carrying such a huge baby! I know she would let me go induction next week as she doesn't want to risk any of my previous complications - my impatience may win over my senses! I am so over work and want to tell everyone to feck off. I really couldn't give a monkeys arse about it all and can't be bothered to pretend. And I am moody as hell. Anyway I feel so silly moaning, some people have real worries right now with babies in SCBU so ignore me and I will go off and sulk in a corner. Actually I am going to hoover the blinds and then finish off a bit of painting I am demented

Midgetm · 06/10/2012 10:36

Cwest Cross posted. Now that has given me some perspective. I so feel for you. I was in for 2 weeks after DD and there were times when the hospital environment made me feel like I was loosing my marbles a little bit. I am sure it won't take 6 weeks - I think this is rare but you do need to rest, despite your motherly guilt of leaving your darling DC at home. He will visit - he will be fine. For now you need to look after you. Take comfort from the face that you are at least close to the baby and concentrate on resting. Huge huge stroke from the grumpy midget. x

Lizzietow · 06/10/2012 11:15

Really sorry cwest but hopefully you'll be out again before you know it. Poor you- but you do need to rest.

midget I'm so feeling you. I wish I could request an induction if baby hasn't arrived by due date (can you? They told me yesterday induction was at term+12). I am having a sweep on due date (12th) so hopefully that will get things going.

hufflepuffle · 06/10/2012 14:57

Hugs and support again Cwest . This will soon be but a memory. Xx

I too get a sweep 'automatically' on due date apt Confused and induction booked there and then +12 days I think. Well it is a Monday so technically term +1. Doesn't fit with the nature argument but I'd rather start with sweep at due time than just sit waiting and waiting and waiting.....

Not going to discuss finishing work today, do not wish to tempt fate......! Oh and well seeing I was there anyhow, whole feckin telephone system went boogaloo this morning!!! My mother said last night 'this baby will be born in work wearing a pair of glasses at this rate' !!!

And relax.

hufflepuffle · 06/10/2012 15:29

Can I ask if any of you have any advice on an essential oil mix to rinse bits post birth?? Friend of mine was given a mix to put in to warm water and rinse with at every wee. Seemed to really help. I've got tea tree and lavender, need a base oil. Assume a v tiny amount of each, 1 or 2 drops in largish amount of oil?? 1 drop of this into cup of warm water?? Surely that is tiny amounts?? Wary tho of doing more harm than good.....!

Dr Google (the hippy version) led me down some v complicated paths there, so thought I'd be better off discussing it here!!

Any advice? X

Oh and if I'm off to health shop might buy some Clary Sage oil? Yoga teacher said is good in bath if overdue, can help promote labour. Anyone heard this one?
X

Lizzietow · 06/10/2012 21:55

Argh major restless legs tonight! Help! It's like they have a mind of their own!

huffle I've heard clary sage is good. For after birth- lavender baths are the best. Really helped with my stitches last time.

Kyyria · 06/10/2012 22:34

THAT'S IT...I'VE OFFICIALLY HAD ENOUGH AND WANT THIS BABY OUT NOW!!

I've had 14 hours sleep in the last week.
I've got restless legs to the point where I want to cut them off (you have my sympathies lizzie).
My reflux is now 24 hours rather than daytime hours.
My pelvis, and the dreaded fanjo of doom, are so uncomfortable that I have to build myself up to turning over in bed - was on the verge of tears at 5am this morning.

The sore pelvis and dreaded fanjo of doom are so sore during the day that I really don't want to move unless I have too.

Fed up and want done.

Not wanting to be all "me, me, me" so sending hugs to all, especially huffle and cwest

32, 36+6, #1

hufflepuffle · 06/10/2012 23:00

Poor poor Kyyria, you are really struggling chicken. I am just about to hit that stage but at least I am 39 wks. So sorry I can give you no advice as you hav doubtless tried everything. Only suggestion is maybe some acupuncture?? Never had any myself but hav heard it discussed for all sorts of pregnancy horridness. Tho I couldn't lie on a flat bed due to sore pelvis and fanjo and u sound so much worse.

Are u doing any hypno or general relaxation/visualisation? Find i can usually sleep with help from those. Sorry if I'm being patronising.

Half a bottle of vodka???!!!! If only!! Not that I've drunk half a bottle of vodka in very very many yrs........!!!!!

Thank you Lizzie, good to know. Sorry for your bouncy legs too. Is one of few things I hav avoided. Currently trying to wiggle out of bloody cramps here tho.

violetlights · 06/10/2012 23:02

huffle I've bought a pot of "Earth Mama Angel Baby Bottom Balm" in expectation of a sore fanjo. I think it's better known in the states but it gets rave reviews (can be used anywhere downstairs). Glad you got your work sorted. Too stressful.... :(

Hugs and Biscuit to you and cwest and Kyyria.

hufflepuffle · 06/10/2012 23:10

Thanks Violetlights! I actually came across that on my searches earlier but only American sites. Must try again!! Thanks. I'm not thinking of it discussing work cos not totally out of woods but for sure I am not personally working any more days!!!!! Thank u for concern xx

hufflepuffle · 06/10/2012 23:17

Confused there is a baby version and a mama version!! Will look again tmrw when more awake!!

violetlights · 06/10/2012 23:39

huffle Sorry, you're right, it was the Mama, not the Baby one I ordered (it's late, isn't it??!) and I got it from Amazon UK. Urgh, here's hoping you can put thoughts of work behind you for now then!

OctoberOctober · 07/10/2012 00:14

Midget - know what you mean about feeling like nesting is kicking in at stage when you're too big to do anything useful... I feel like that too. Also feel like I can't give DS the active attention he deserves, would love to be chasing him round and doing lots of fun physical stuff with him that he loves but just haven't got the energy. Sad

Cwest - so sorry to hear you're back in, just have to remember that it is for the best and will fade away in the grand scheme of things.

I am pissed off that after period type pains on Thurs night I've had nothing since, and I mean NOTHING, to indicate any sort of labour onset. Really hoped that it would be the start of something, but would appear not Angry. Not rational I know, given still 39 weeks but now I want some progress that involves something other than just getting even bigger!

MickeyTheShortOne · 07/10/2012 08:03

Hi everyone. Still in wales and baby hasnt arrived yet, so this is good. Did some shopping yesterday but kept feeling like I was going to pass out so had to come home again :(

Big hugs and strokes to everyone, can't imagine how you are all coping with previous children as well.

Cwest I hope you are feeling a little better today.
Any news on Yomping? Not seen you on here for a while...

Mickey- ridiculously fat and uncomfortable, 35+3.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 07/10/2012 08:08

Just trying to catch up with this thread. Huge hugs to those fed up of waiting (would love one back!)

Congratulations to those that have had their beautiful babies. I'm so jealous.

Due thurs, and fed up myself. I know what you mean about the nesting and struggling to do owt. Managed to get a bit done yesterday, but had to keep resting. Luckily DP did quite a bit.

Sick of pain, as others have said, and I know the feeling of having to build up to turning over in bed.

Good luck to all Smile

LoopyLa · 07/10/2012 08:20
