anyone got five children?

I may be mad but having just had my fourth baby 12 weeks ago I am seriously broody again. Feel we may be permanently broke from now on anyway, wondering how Ill ever afford childcare to get back to work but due to 2 mcs my baby feels a bit stuck on the end - other 3 are 9,7 and 4. Seriously thinking about just not using contraception and seeing if a 5th happens. Is this just coz Im nearly 37 and hearing my biological clock for the first time? Or am I just mad coz Im postnatal? would anyone else go for it?

Congratulations rosylizzie
I've got 5, dd10, dss 9, 7, 5 and 1. Big gap between last two as had 2 mcs between them, but I've finally got what I wanted which is my family of 5. If someone offered me some more dds on a plate I would happily take them in to give dd a sister or two, but definitely don't want to be pregnant again so no.5 is definitely my last.
Love having 5, never had any regrets, sometimes it's hard work - lots of washing but they're great together and bring me so much joy.

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 21:06

Congrats rosy!!! What will be the age gap between these 2 then? I have 5 too and am 21 weeks prg with #6! I have dts 8, dd (the only one) age 6, ds 4 and ds 2 the end of this month. Im almost def going to have another too, dd was desperate for a sister but this baby is a boy. I love little boys though and am soooo pleased but they all (dh included) wanted a girl. I will do all that crazy diet and timming stuff next time. Keep us posted, how are you feeling?

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 21:10

LOL just read my earlier post in sept....no bitterness for my ex at all then... As ive just said it's a boy, we found out at the 20 week scan. Cant believe im already 21 weeks, that's the beauty of a big family prg goes soooo fast!

kittyinwaiting · 01/01/2007 21:14

Like large g&t I am preg with no 6. Bloody chaos and I am soooo tired atm, eldest is 8 and youngest was one last week. This will be my last though. I keep saying that

robinia · 01/01/2007 21:21

lg&t - I did all the timing and it didn't work - just gave me two miscarriages instead Got the cutest little boy instead though

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 21:22

Helloooo Kitty, whats the mix of your brood? Any psycho 6 year olds threatening to pack her bags and leave if you dont 'magic' a girl this time?

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 21:25

Robina did you hear anyone who actually managed to get the colour they wanted doing all the timming, diet stuff? I have one friend who it did work for. Im sure my body would plot against it anyway, i love boys. I didnt say it out loud this time until the scan said it was blue! Hee hee

robinia · 01/01/2007 21:31

Didn't have any friends who had tried - just read a couple of books and searched mumsnet archives - books of course full of good results, mumsnet more equally balanced (like 50/50 ). Just decided that if I didn't give it a go I'd regret it. Didn't do diet, just timing, although iirc, I have a fairly girl orientated diet anyway which hadn't worked for the previous 3!

CatherineEarnshaw · 01/01/2007 21:33

mine are four blues and one pink - timing did not work for me!

Judy1234 · 01/01/2007 22:14

I have five.
no need for you to tell anyone until you're more like 4 months pregnant.

kittyinwaiting · 01/01/2007 22:34

lg&t, apparantly I'm having a chap this time, that'll make it 3 of each. What's the mix of yours/ is your 6 year old the only girl then?!!

jampots · 01/01/2007 22:36

my friend has 5 children - 13, 12, 9, and 7yo twin boys. She is stunning and super duper slim with long blonde hair. She is also super duper rich but very down to earth. One of her best friends also has 5!

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 22:44

I have just one girlie Kitty! Im happy with that, it drives me crazy though when you tell people you are prg and they say "oh, poor you", or "you must be mad". Shortly followed by "you must be desperate for a girl next time" Grrrrrrrr Have they met my daughter???!!!!

I put off telling certain friends as i couldnt bear the reaction i knew i would get. Most were ok, just the mad comments mainly.

When is your #6 due Kitty? Are you having anymore Xenia? Were you going for another blue then Catherine?

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 22:46

Jampots im blonde, super slim and very glamourous Ha Ha!

Judy1234 · 01/01/2007 22:50

I triewd the diet thing and my third child was a boy after 2 girls but may have been chance and the twins were boys.
I just turned 45 and I'm divorced now. A 6th is therefore unlikely.

jampots · 01/01/2007 22:52

largeginandtonic - oh you must be * then. The boys must come over to play and then ds can go to yours to practice his golf on your course !

CatherineEarnshaw · 01/01/2007 22:59

another blue???i think not

i was desperate for a girl

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 23:00

Any time jampots, we can lounge in the pool (it's heated) the nannies can look after the children as we sip our Champers....oh wouldnt it be fab!

Xenia never say never. My exp ran off with the student who lived in our attic last january (big boobies, 22 etc..) and i managed to bag myself a delicious younger man last year who proposed in May. We got married in July!!!! Busy time for me last year....

largeginandtonic · 01/01/2007 23:06

Oh...so the timing worked then Catherine you got your pink one! I read your post as the timing did not work.

My main problem at the moment is ive run out of boy's names!

kittyinwaiting · 01/01/2007 23:31

lg&t I had lots of 'mad' comments. They made me pretty cross tbh . I said i thought it was great and that big families were good. No. 6 is due at the end of March. I've not had a spring baby before, all the rest are one a month from August to December. It's a bit hectic what with all the parties and then xmas. Flat broke now . I do enjoy my girls though, and feel a bit anxious about having a boy again.
