you may want to take probiotics (healthy bacteria in live yoghurt or a supplement). See, for example, this doctor reporting a Lancet study.

I wish I'd known about this before mine were born but it may help others.

I wish I had known too tatt. Ms ds doesn't have bad eczema but it may have helped with the allergies.

bump - we love you all but hope your children won't be leading you in the direction of the allergies section . It may help with other allergies too.

Thanks for this tatt. dd is 2 wks old. With food allergies and eczema in the family, this is useful to know about.

There has been a lot of research into probiotics here in NZ, and some leading scientists here led the development of new probiotics. I'll definately be finding out more about this in light of the new probiotics recently developed.

I know that dh has always recommended live culture yoghurt when someone has a bacterial infection (dh is a chemist/scientist).

Hello - I have ezcema and DH has hayfever so I wasn't hopeful for our DS (29wks old in utro) but this gives me hope, I ate these twice a day in my first trimester and swore the prune layered activia yogs kept me going. Ive since switched but will switch back now so thankyou v much.

A tutor (of holistic therapies) once told me that if the bowels aren't functioning properly then the body will use the next biggest excretory organ (the skin) to get rid of toxins. This makes absolute sense to me and I hope it's correct, specially as I've been taking probiotics throughout my pg to hopefully stop bubs from inheriting my and DHs skin conditions!
Bigscaryeyes - am at same stage as you. It'll be interesting to see how our babies are doing, skin wise, next year!
