My beautiful son Reuben was born yesterday at 11:34am, after a hard and fast labour of 4 hours. I left home for the hosp at 9:45am, arrived at 10am.

He weighed 7lb 7oz, was delivered with the help of gas & air only, and I got to have a natural third stage.

had waters broken by MW after they refused to go on their own, and 19 mins later, he arrived! DH cut the cord.

Unfortunately, the MW panicked about his breathing which was fine, but called the paediatrician in, which meant I could not leave hosp until he was signed off again, and this did not happen til today. But it did mean I got to spend some good time with just me and my boy.

Who is absolutey stunning.

Reuben, you make our family complete. xx

Your last sentence made me well up

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 30/11/2009 08:56

dizzy you like the name then , it was always going to be really wasn't it? we tested out some other ones, but always came back to this.

And for those who know how i suffered with HG throughout thi pg...it is true once the placenta came out, appetite returned instantly...i had 5 slices of toast yesterday in hosp...so lovely i could not stop eating .

Bella (DD) played in her room this morning til we asked her to come down...she did not want to wake Reuben < cries with pride> she has been just great with him and now off to tell all her nursery friends about him!

I clicked on this but I'm not sure why..avoids a self-congratulatory biscuit and wishes good luck today to DD's...

bluebump · 30/11/2009 18:14

Aww congrats! Lovely name too.

whensmydayoff · 01/12/2009 09:15

Congrats and well done you! (choking back lump in throat at last comment)!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 01/12/2009 09:18

He is just so scrummy!!!

He is curled up on my chest right now, after feeding/feeding/feeding, and he is gently stroking my boob and making content little noises. DD is still in love with him too and so far, it is just bliss.

Thanks for all the wishes, and thanks for all the support from MN during this pregnancy, both in relation to my pregnancy stresses and also my personal stuff (builders), it would have been so much harder without this place to come and rant and get some perspective on things. In RL, you are expected to keep your chin up, or else people think you do not cope, when in fact you just need to let it all out sometimes. This place is a sanctuary and I cam cope with the downsides of so many woman in one place with opinions!
