Yesterday (Monday 5th Oct) at 11.55am.
Started having contractions around 2am, went into hospital 6ish as last time they speeded up very suddenly and we only just made it in time, didn't want the same to happen again.
Hospital sent us home again (as they do....) and contractions then slowed down again and were every 10-15 minutes until 11.15am. At which point they suddenly increased to every 2-3 mins and much more gruesome.
It was clear we weren't going to make it so we called an ambulance, but unfortunately there weren't any free in our local area so they had to send one from half an hour away. They arrived just in time to get me into the ambulance but didn't manage to get any further and baby was born in ambulance parked outside our house, delivered by 2 fab female paramedics....
Baby weighs 6 lb 7 oz, feeding & sleeping pretty well. Can't believe how fab it is not to feel sick any more after 7 1/2 months of hyperemesis, or how much energy I've got. Have been scoffing pate and mould-ripened soft cheese all day

Thank you everyone for your congratulations
When I picked dd up from school yesterday one of the roofers from next door was picking up his nephew and telling everyone the story (not realising it was me) about the ambulance arriving and the woman going into the ambulance, lots of screaming and then a few minutes later the sound of a baby crying - it seems I did in fact have a row of roofers sitting on the scaffolding listening to the whole thing

DS2 is doing very well and I am bursting with energy due to no longer having hyperemesis. Not even any stitches, constipation, piles, etc etc!

Do you think if I send a card to the lovely paramedics it will get to them if I just send it to the ambulance station addressed to them by their first names?

Oh wow! Congratulations

TigerFeet · 08/10/2009 14:15

Oh my, what an entrance! What a great story to tell him when he's older. Many congratulations

No longer having HG is amazing isn't it? I have been eating like the proverbial horse ever since dd2 was born. The nausea seemed to stop the very second her placenta popped out

Hulababy · 08/10/2009 14:17

Congratulations!

Kathyis12feethighandbites · 08/10/2009 14:23

Tigerfeet, it's just INCREDIBLE not feeling sick any more. I'm rushing round the house emptying the dishwasher and making everyone cups of tea and picking things up off the floor because I can.
All these simple pleasures like brushing your teeth for ages instead of the bare minimum, or allowing your 2yo to elbow you in the tummy without it turning into a major vomiting incident!
Did you lose weight in your pregnancy?

What a great story! Congratulations! Your story has brought a smile to my face and a little tear to my eye [soppy git emoticon]

Did you make yourself known to the roofer at the school?

Kathyis12feethighandbites · 08/10/2009 14:27

Yes, and I pointed to ds2 in the sling and said this was the baby.
People were pretty surprised to see me out and about because you tend to associate ambulances with bad outcomes, I think. Whereas really it was a classic case of a fast birth being a straightforward one.

I can eat before 10am
I can brush my teeth
My diet no longer consists of nothing but bacon butties, jaffa cakes, jellyb eans and haribo

I'm now 3st lighter than I was when I first got up the duff, but I doubt that'll last, the way I'm eating atm. I was (and still am) overweight though. How about you?

mmm Stilton nomnomnom

Lizzylou · 08/10/2009 14:31

Wow!
Congratulations, quite the local celeb now as well!

Kathyis12feethighandbites · 08/10/2009 14:32

3 st Have fun putting it back on! I lost weight the first time and had a lovely time eating Greek yoghurt for several months....
I didn't lose weight this time because constant snacking helped keep the nausea under control and I ate enough to counteract all the calories lost through vomiting.
It's so great to be able to eat EVERYTHING. My mum is here and more or less in charge of the cooking and I love not having to say 'oh sorry, I couldn't eat sausages tonight.'

Wow - what a story! Congratulations!

Was the roofer like this when you showed him the baby???

Kathyis12feethighandbites · 08/10/2009 14:44

No, he was a bit embarrassed actually. Maybe he'd seen my arse through the French window when I was in labour?
