Just that really, if you had a planned c section did you keep the date private and then announce once baby was born or did you tell people the date of your planned section ?

Told close family and friends, but just gave a week to wider circle of people and then “announced” after birth.

People who needed to know dog care for example was informed other than that nobody else.

ZiggyZowie · 29/03/2025 21:32

I'm having an elective this time around and NOPE. I have told a friend who will be helping with our toddler, otherwise I am lying through my teeth too everyone else who asks!

I also didn't tell anyone I was being induced with my first. I just think it's really private.

Picoloangel · 29/03/2025 21:35

I had to because DD was breech. We didn’t tell anyone and glad we didn’t because as it happened it was delayed for a day.

CSR721 · 29/03/2025 21:35

My biggest regret from having my DS was letting people know my due date. I've always said for the next one I'm giving people the month after e.g. if due in may I'll say June. I'll tell close family only. I was bombarded with messages with my son, some from people I wasn't even that close to, all wanting to know what was happening. It drove me mad.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 29/03/2025 21:39

Yes, I told people. Didn't have any issues with people knowing, and it didn't cause any issues either. A few people sent a quick "hope everything goes well" sort of message the day before.

TheThreeMiracles · 29/03/2025 21:40

Thank you for your replies makes me feel loads better about keeping the date quiet, I remember being induced with my first and a family member announced it on Facebook before I’d had chance to, this time round we are keeping the c section date completely private I just hope dp doesn’t blab to his family! I told my friends. Didn’t tell my family because their reaction wouldn’t have been helpful (there was a chance the baby wouldn’t have made it).

Sturnidae · 29/03/2025 21:43

We had to for dd2 as we needed dd1 to be cared for this time round only my mother in law will know as she'll have both the children. But everybody in the family knows when I'm due and that I'm likely having an elcs so will be around a week before I'm due.

Mayflyoff · 29/03/2025 22:06

I think we were mostly open about it, but didn't tell wider family as my DGM tended to fuss about things, so we just told her the due date and the ELCS was obviously booked for about a week earlier. The main thing was having my DPs lined up as babysitters. They took DD1 back to their house, but hadn't even got home before DD2 was born as I was first on the list.
