Hello

Can't stay long as have strict instructions from MarsLady not to be on the computer for too long but my little bundle's asleep at the moment, so am just checking in to say hello.

In very brief, starting having contractions on Thursday night, and we timed them and they were rather erratic. Rang the hospital and they said wait an hour and see how you feel. Then it was getting too much and rang again and they said to come in. Got to UCH birthing centre, having stopped at every red light on the way, at 2am.

Brought my massive hospital bag full of all the items recommended by MNers, warm socks for chilly feet, magicool spray to deal with the hot delivery room, clothes, snacks, kitchen sink...(DH had to carry it, was too heavy for me ).

Pretty much on arrival my waters broke and while the amazing midwife was organising the IV antibiotics (for Group B Strep) I started wanting to push. Luckily they were in time to administer the necessary drugs and by ten past five Henry was born, weighing 8lbs exactly.

...and the only thing I used from my labour bag was one dextrose glucose tablet!

We stayed in for 36 hours or so and are now at home just getting used to each other but he's amazing and has a healthy appetite!

Will try and pop a picture on my profile so you can see how completely gorgeous he is.
