Not an announcement, just a query

Something I've been pondering for a while and want to know what you do.
I read the birth announcements on here but am often unsure whether to post a congratulation if I've never come across the mner before. Don't want to sound insincere if they don't know me from Adam!.
So do you lot congratulate just people you've chatted to or got to know before?

i was delighted to get all the congratulations i did even from those i hadnt chatted to before. just a word or two can be nice and friendly, and you will chat to them one day, and remember them from before!

I can't help but celebrate another safe arrival into the world for that mother and the child, whoever they are. I also think it's lovely when someone I haven't chatted to before wished me luck, gives me advice, basically care enough to respond.

I try to congratulate any announcements that I see regardless of whether I've chatted to that person or not.
However I have to admit that when I come on for a quick 5 minutes(thatt usually ends up as 2 hours) and see them I always nearly think "I'll read this and then post a congratulations" but then I forget to do it.

I really must try harder as it was lovely reading all the congratulations I got when I had Ds3 last year.

Thanks! Just what I'd hoped you'd say.

I post congratulations on as many birth announcements as I see, regardless of whether I've chatted to the person before.

Gobbledigook · 10/11/2004 21:54

Post on any I see too! Lots posted on mine with ds3 in August and I'd only been on MN for about a week.

emmatmg · 10/11/2004 21:55

actually I nearly always think it, not always nearly think it.

that sounds like i can't quite think the whole thing IYSWIM.

I can think.......just choose not to when I'm posting a message about thinking

Bit like emmatmg, would congratulate anyone posting on here with birth news, even if I hadn't chatted to them before...but pressure of time sometimes means I intend to go back and miss it. Happens with other threads too, not just birth announcements (MUST go and find Flossam's now )
The thread printed out is a lovely addition to your Baby Book/Box, I treasure mine.

I miss lots of these so feel very guilty when I don't post. But, must admit, sometimes I see names I simply don't recognise. It's not whether I've 'chatted' to them that matters, more if they haven't really posted on MN.

Now I sound churlish don't I?
