Emily Isabelle was born by elective c-section on Tuesday 5th May at 11:33am.

Emily is doing really well, sleeping for 4-5 hours between feeds and very quiet and lovely.

Went in at 8am on the day o the section and after sitting around for a couple of hours in my lovely blue surgical stockings was taken through to be prepped at around 11:00am. The epidural and spinal block were bloody sore going in, but the theatre staff were lovely and made me feel very at ease. After things were ready, I was wheeled through and after th first cut, emily was delviered about 12 minutes later. DH watched the whole thing over the screen and saw her being delivered. (I could see a little of what was going on in the shiny bit surrounding the theatre lights which was a bit surreal, but interesting. After she was checked over, she was wrapped in a blanket and handed to DH who laid her beside me on the table so we could get up close and personal whilst I was stitched up. The first thing that struck me was her shock of black hair (we're all light brown to very blonde, and DH is asking questions!!)

She was then weighed and measured whilst I was transferred to a bed, then given to me as I was wheeled to recovery. We had a good hour of skin to skin and she started to feed immediately which was great, and her feeding has gone from strength to strength.....and now my milk is in she is a milk monster (ouch).

Stayed in for three days and the staff were lovely and have really helped me get her feeding off to a great start.

the elective was a very different experience to last time where I had an emergency c-section after a very lengthy labour, albeit slighlty surreal...to go in pregnant and three hours and little effort later be handed a baby. the initial burst of emotion I felt with DS wasn't there, but my beautiful daughter and I have bonded tremendously over the last few days and I am well and truly head over heels in love with her and her black hair, grey eyes and tufty ears.

(the black hair is courtesy of my mum's family apparently, grandad and uncles were all very dark and fair...typical celtic colouring)

I'll post some photos later!
