I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Joseph Samuel Potts and I was born on 2nd March 2007 at 2.44am in Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon. I weighed a very respectable 8lb 5oz. No-one really believed I'd be a redhead because of my mums dark colouring, but it looks like the ginger gene won the battle!

There's been a bit of delay in spreading the news as I've been in hospital with my mum all week. We had a few complications at birth because I was an undetected breech and mums labour was too quick to perform a c-section (2 hours 49 minutes total!). It was very traumatic for me and I had to be resuscitated and rushed to special care.

I have, however, recovered from my ordeal far far quicker than the doctors anticipated and we finally arrived home on Saturday,at 8 days old . I'm healthy and happy, and I passed all my hospital tests - although there's a small chance that there will be long term problems because of oxygen deprivation and there's no way of knowing until I'm bigger, my mum and dad are thrilled that I pulled through it all, especially when for awhile they didn't know if i'd come home at all.

My mum might write full birth story at some point, but she just wants to forget it for the time being. The staff at the hospital were amazing though - seemed like there were hundreds of them involved with my birth and aftercare. To think they were trying to close the maternity unit at Hinchingbrooke

Ooh I'm so cute its just not funny ...

Congratulations on the arrival of Joseph.

I had my last one at Hinchingbrooke so it's really good to hear they aren't going to close the unit down. I don't think you could have had him at a better place, I'm sorry it was traumatic and hope that everything turns out ok in the end.
