Hi guys, sorry to have taken so long to get back to you all. you were all fantastic on monday and tuesday night.

Our newest arrival joined as us 4.47am on wednesday morning.
She doesn't haver a nameyet and dh and I are affectionately calling her Gecko at the mo

after I last posted on my 'Having painful contractions' thread I started having really painful, regular contractions and rang my midwife. she came over but once she had been there for about half an hour they stopped being regular. she stayed a little while and thought maybe it wasn't time but then they atrted to be connsistent;y every 5 mins and getting stronger. by 2am she decided that we should go to the hospital. She still wasn't completely sure that it was the real thing and because dd2 had woken up and been downstairs with us dh decided to stay with dd2 to save waking grandma until we knew whether it was the real thing. (oh she had examined me and I wasn't dilated about an hour after she got here, so was thinking that maybe it was just painful effacing pains).
Anyway my midwife and I set off for the hospital and arrived at 3.10am. By now there were strong enough for me to want to try some gas and air. She then examined me and I was 3-4cm dilated. (quite proud that I had got to that without any pain relief)((I know it's not that much but still proud ))
Then MW realsied that it was going to be quick and so rang dh to come in.
Suddenly it went really quick and dh walked through the door to see the head crowning!!!
S I went from 3-4cm dilated to holding my little girl in 1hour and 40 mins.
It was really hard, fast and very painful.
I feel a little shellshocked from the speed of it but we are both totally fine and healthy, no stiches and I came home fom the hospital at about 5pm wednesday night.
Thankyou so much for all your support, I'm totally over the moon if a little blindsided
sorry to babble.....

Anyone heard from cadbury????

Congrats TrinityRhino, am waiting the great name decision with bated breath!

Gingerbear · 09/02/2007 17:27

Congratulations! Gecko - what a beautiful and unusual name DD was nameless for a week!

I have been lulling myself about being able to cope with the pain of contractions, however after a bad attack of trapped wind last night, I am not so sure! (A fart is much easier than pushing out a baby, after all) Well done on getting 3-4cm with no pain relief.

SpaceCadet · 09/02/2007 19:33
