Hello,
Everyone. Thanks for the support I received on the childbirth thread. The labour and birth was completely different to what I was expecting. I had a DD after a very quick labour on Thursday who is gorgeous and varies between being called Emiliy or Amelia.
She doesnt look like any of the names we had chosen and we cant decide between the 2.
Heres all the gory details...
9.30am thurs started getting back ache which was coming and going.
10.00 cleaned floors, hung washing on line and watered hanging baskets just encase it wasnt actually labour.
12.00 pains started to move around to my front like period pains every 10 mins.
12.30 phoned dp and asked him to finish work
13.30 dp arrives home and helps me into bath while making me eat baked beans on toast.
14.10 contractions now every 3 mins so leave for hospital.
14.30 arrive at hospital with quite bad contractions and the need to push, this didnt impress dp who had visions of me delivering the baby in the car.
14.40 examined and 9cm dilated
15.26 baby delivered.
I was completely stunned at how short it all was and managed on gas and air, it was really only painful for about 3hrs. The baby had pooed while inside so a pediatrition had to be there but everything was fine. I didnt get to use anything out of my labour bag and it remains unpacked. DD weighed in at 7lb 7ozs and is fantastic.

Well Done Kbaby and congratulations.

Love both names so can't help with best choice, Amelia emily sounds nice though

Soapbox · 29/05/2004 18:52

Congratulations Kbaby (amelia is our dd's proper name like you we'd chosen names before she was born but weren't too sure it fitted her when she was born - so we shortened it - could be amy or Millie)! However also like Emily my friends little girl is called that!

Well done - it sounds like it all went very well despite not being how you had imagined it.

Enjoy just being a family now
