Congratulations! Wade right in. You will be able to find your relevant post-natal group here but tell us all about it!

Greensleeves · 29/10/2006 20:47

Congratulations and welcome

reidie · 29/10/2006 20:50

Hi tribpot, well what can i say? My little boy is now 9 weeks old and they have flown by! The birth was much better than i had prepared myself for. i think i had prepared myself for the worse case senario and everything went very smoothly. contractions started 2am, Thomas Andrew was born at 5.55pm.

what about you?

congratualtions! and welcometo mumsnet, you'll soon be addicted

reidie · 29/10/2006 20:54

thank you for the welcome. As for being addicted, it'll be nice to have people in similar situations to chat with. my hubby is working all hours as we are currently planning on moving house (just to add to the stress of having our first child!)

Brilliant - glad things went well for you at the birth and you're obviously enjoying your new little boy. My ds is 16 months; the birth part was alright (I was induced because of pre-eclampsia so less than joyous) and I really struggled in the early months. My dh is chronically ill and that puts a lot of strain on me, on top of a newborn, it wasn't a great time. But as time has gone on we have found ways to cope with everything and although I don't find being a mum very easy, my ds is just the most precious, beautiful thing in my life and I feel incredibly privileged to know him.

reidie · 29/10/2006 20:58

Tribpot - wow! although i am loving being a new mum and love my little boy to bits i find it very tiring at times and that is with (in my opinion) a very good home life and lots of support.
You deserve a medal!

Actually I don't think I do - dh is a SAHD and I've never had the 'normal' mum life of looking after ds on my own for at least 8 hours a day! We've done this completely together, my SILs are absolutely stunned when dh talks about childcare in a knowledgeable way!

reidie · 29/10/2006 21:06

sorry i'm new to this, i got the SAHD abbreviation but you'll have to tell me the SILs abbreviation.

my hubby had 3 wks off when DS was born which was a huge help, his first shift back was a night shift. i found that really hard going at first but soon got the hang of it. i am back at work in Jan. really not looking forward to leaving DS with any one else

hi reidie and welcome to mumsnet. Not on your postnatal board but thought would say hi. I have a son who was 3 at beginning of month, dd is one in dec and am dueno.3 in jan. My husband works a lot and is often away on buisness trips so can empathise with the coping alone side of things. Congrates on your little man.

reidie · 29/10/2006 21:36

you must be one busy lady NastyNemo666! i find it difficult enough looking after one little one! i sometimes get to the end of the day and realise i haven't eaten or been to the loo all day because i'm that busy

OP posts:
NastyNemo666 · 29/10/2006 21:40

it does get easier as you get more used to it. When I only had my son I remember going to the loo with him sitting on my knee etc..nowdays its sort of a fend for yourself for a couple of mins while I have me time..lol

reidie · 29/10/2006 21:48

My DH makes me laugh, he is working all hours so doesnt see as much of DS as he would like to and is still getting used to adapting. He got up this morning and made his breakfast. i was making DS bottles (while DH was around to occupy DS)Hubby sat to eat breakfast and DS started to cry i couldn't leave half completed bottles so DH had to sort DS out, needless to say he finally realises why i sometimes go all day without a proper meal!
