dot and juno have another new-man-in-the-making (they wish)

dot has phoned from her bed to instruct me to post, so here goes.

She was induced on Thursday afternoon, fully expecting the first dose of prostin to do nothing, as per Miriam. So imagine our shock when she seemed to pass immediately into the throes of labour.

Taken upstairs to delivery pretty speedily when the baby's heartrate dropped, and given Entonox, which she made good use of, despite waving it around between contractions and shouting about how rubbish it was (dot turned scarily, and yet magnificently, stroppy until they epidural-ed her, and has spent the rest of her stay in hospital apologising to every midwife who had the misfortune to be shouted at by her!)

Anyway, contractions never really got big enough or regular enough, cervix didn't dilate past about 2-3cm and the baby's heartrate kept dipping temporarily, so in the end they took her to theatre and did a section. He was a boy weighing 8lbs 7oz and, unlike ds1, appears to like being sung to (I got through the whole of "Thunder Road" twice before dot was finally wheeled out of the theatre). ds1 says "please stop" as soon as we utter a note, but maybe we can brainwash ds2 while he's still mute...

Congratulations Dot1 and Juno! And welcome to Dylan! Lovely news. (Good to hear you had a shout during labour, dot1 - makes me feel less embarassed about being told to be quiet in labour with dd...)

Congrats Dot and Juno. Was thinking about you today, as I haven't been on here for a few days. Glad all went well(ish)!!

Juno · 15/04/2004 20:11

Awwwww, thanks so much for all your messages of congratulations and support. Life is a bit of a sleep-deprived nightmare at the moment, but we know from last time that it does pass... Anyway, dot1 wants to get on the computer now, so this is Juno signing out until I can get a job with computer access again!

I know it might be a bit late.... but congratulations. I haven't been able to check the site this week so I feel a bit stupid for only posting this now. I know how frustrating it must have been to prepare yourself for normal birth and then have to be totally terrified when nothing went right. I pray that you are getting a bit more sleep this week.

SoupDragon · 18/04/2004 19:08

Congratulations!!

elliott · 18/04/2004 20:17
