Catj's birth story-quite boring really!

It all started just after midnight on Thursday 16th March when I woke up feeling as is something might be happening! By 1.30am after having several contractions 15 mins apart I realised that there was something happening! I got up and went into the lounge where I put one of the music channels on the tv where I chilled in between contractions, which were very low across my pelvis. About 3.30am my waters broke-nothing dramatic-just a bit of a trickle. From then on they just got closer together so we called the midwife at 5.30 and she arrived 30mins later bringing the pool with her which dh set about setting up.
Two hours later the pool still wasn't ready (aargh) so I got into the bath where I wallowed for the next hour. At 9am the pool was up & starting to be filled but then the hot water ran out! By this time I was feeling a bit cold so decided to get out of the bath. As I changed position I felt very sick & proceeded to throw up (sorry!). I managed to struggle out of the bath at 9.30 and that's when I felt the urge to push. I ended up kneeling over the pool from the outside with my hands in the water. I tried 2 breaths of gas & air and decided that it wasn't working and gave up on it! After what felt like pushing for hours our 4th daughter Seren Jane was born at 10am weighing 9lb 2oz (although I did think that she was a boy when dh exclaimed "oh yes" as she was delivered Grin). Other than being a bit slow to get her colour up all was well with Seren and I'm very pleased to say I didn't tear either!
One week on she is still a very chilled out little girl and is feeding and sleeping like a dream. (I'm sure it won't last though Wink)

Congratulatoins Smile.

Can't help feeling sorry for your dp having set up the pool Grin how long did it take to then dismantle?

Congrats though, how do your other children feel about your new one.

catj · 23/03/2006 22:13

Dismantling took a hell of a lot less time Grin. Dd1 (10) is besotted, one of the twins couldn't care less and the other is quite interested but they are only 2.9!

See - even talking about using my pool passed the curse onto you! Blush

Lovely name :) How are the others taking to the new arrival?
