Hotmama eventually has dd2!

Just to let everyone know that Evie Harriet was born at 10.06 a.m on Friday 10th February and weighed 9lb.

I didn't need to be induced on Thursday afternoon as I started off naturally on Thursday morning. I went to my induction assessment and was 3cm dilated so was sent home.

Went back in 10.30 and was 7cm - yay. Went in the pool, but as I had a lot of blood loss with dd1 I wasn't allowed to deliver in the pool so got out to deliver. Had pethidine as they had ran out of diamorphine I thought they were winding me up.

At just over 9cm (at about midnight) I needed to push as my waters broke, things looked like they were happening but some of my cervix started to swell (dd2 was high and back to back) so I was told not to push - easier said than done, so had a epidural to reduce the feel for pushing.

Bizarrely, I then 'undilated' eventually back to 4 cm, so had a drip to help along contractions but dd2's heart didn't like this so was stopped and started for the next few hours. Eventually, had an emergency section and lost 5 pints of blood and had a tranfusion - but feel O.Kish now - came out last night so was in for less than 3 days.

BF going O.K - but have bleeding nipples so using shields at the moment but will be getting round my La Leche league contact sharpish as I want to be more successful than last time.

A knackered but happy Hotmama of 2 dds. xx

Well done! Sorry you had a rough time of it after all the preparations, but she's safe now and so are you and that's brilliant!

Evie is a lovely name!

OH, started so well then undliating, poor you! Still, any way of safely delivery your beautiful dd is a good way, congrats!

sweetkitty · 14/02/2006 14:41

Many congratulations hotmama and a big welcome to Evie, she sounds as reluctant to come out as my DD2 was. The birth sounds terrifying but I bet you she's worth it, having 2 DD's is great.

Good luck with the BFing too remember theres loads of experts on here too.

Big congrats hotmama, was beginning to get worried because you weren't responding to the other post on chilbirth!
Glad you and Evie are ok, and wish you a quick recovery!

Thell · 14/02/2006 17:30

Well done Hotmama!
You sound so calm in spite of everything...I bet that's what has helped you get home so quickly.
What a beautiful name - can't wait to see a pic

Sorry to hear the birth didn't go to well, but many congrats on baby Evie fabulous name and i bet she is worth every second.

Eshay · 23/02/2006 13:34

Congratulations Hotmama! Sounds like a long, long birth. I'm sure you're glad to have it all behind you now, although recovery from a C-section does take a while and you are probably not quite there yet. I had DS on 20 Jan (C-section) and am feeling much better now but still not quite there. Good luck.
