Just a quickie to say my little girl arrived safely this morning at 5.50am. Hideous, but quick labour and birth, more details soon when it's not so painful to sit on my stitches!

congratulations, chanelno5. And may I suggest a rubber ring? (for sitting on, shouldn't use it for too long but it brings blessed relief).

Thanks to everyone for your kind wishes. Feeling slightly more human today though stitches still giving me a bit of grief and feeling like I've got a baboon's bum down there!

Few gory birth details. Waters went at 5.30pm on Friday. No contractions though niggly backache all day. Seen at hospital and was 3cm dilated though nothing else happening and they were happy for me to go home and wait. All evening nothing, felt like rather an anticlimax. Went to bed and was awoken by painful contraction at 12.30am. Followed by painful, but irregular ones approx 10 min intervals. Didn't think things could be happening too fast as so far apart despite being so strong so went downstairs to watch TV. Kept nodding off on sofa but getting woken up by contractions. By 4am had had enough so started getting ready to go back to hospital, went into shower, woke up dh and mum and dad. Then was hit by 3 mighty ones in a row and started to feel a bit worried that I had left it too late for an epidural again. Lots more hideous ones in car. Got into delivery room and knew I was in transition stage and felt very scared as I knew I wouldn't get anything stronger than gas and air which is only good for biting on the mouthpiece! So no time to put on nametag or monitor and baby was out in a few, very painful pushes. Had episiotomy and stitches, but otherwise ok and baby fine and gorgeous. The others are besotted with her. Now getting to grips with breastfeeding again and my sexy jelly belly!

Congrats Chanel - and thanks for the details. Wasn't on-line over the weekend. Welcome mini-Chanelno5!

Brilliant news! I should have logged on earlier. Sorry things were so painful - hope by now you can sit down a bit.
