Hello ladies

So here goes with birth story.
Went in at 7.30am and was checked etc, given first pessarie at 9am. Baby was engaged then but spent whole time popping in and out of engagement. No pains etc until 3pm ish when given second pessary. Regular niggles from \3-10pm. Moved to delivery quite to have waters broken but baby had moved right out of pelvis. Told I might need c section due to this and that she felt a big baby [again], so wouldnt break my waters. Pains got more regular but my cervix went on holiday apparently..lol. Midnight they decided they were going to do a csec so prepped for theatre and taken down [lots of tears as I didnt expect it]. When went to theatre they said if i wanted they could try and break waters first but due to her not being engaged there was a possibility of her cord dropping down first. I was going to be having c sec under general anesthetic anyway so I said to try. At that moment her head engaged for a min so they did it and was all fine. Walked back to delivery room. Contractions coming regularly then at 3am baby unengaged again so prepped for C sec and taken down at which point she engaged again. Back to room again where was told I was only 2cmas dialated so given diamorphine. Carried on in regular 2 mins apart contractions till 6am. Checked again and told still only 2cms and baby unengaged..again prepped for c sec and you guessed it she engaged..at this point I told G we were never having anymore..lol Told she might be too big to come out ...hahaha...so said I would try again. Told I couldnt have more diamorphine as i needed my wits about me. Felt need to push at 7am and told was 8cms but baby still high up. Told not to have gas n air while I pushed baby down. At this point I begged them to take me back for c sec but they refused..pmsl I was not impressed and refused to push but baby had other ideas..lol Started pushing properly at 7.30am and she was born at 8am exactly. Weighed in at 6lb14ozs with dark hair and is doll like compared to Adams 9lb1..lol

LIZS · 17/12/2005 17:35

wow congratulations - lol @ "big baby", dd was same weight !

mears · 17/12/2005 17:48

Congratulations Nemo. Glad you got there is the end

FastasleepInAManger · 17/12/2005 18:34

Oh what an experience! I can't imagine all that c-section prepping, you did very well to hold it together enough to push at all, I think I would have been a big mass of tears and snot by then!

Sophia had a full head of gorgeous hair too, I do love hairy headed babies, we'll have to compare them

Well done you!

Glitterygook · 17/12/2005 18:38

Oh my goodness!! What a night! Well done you though, fabulous!

BROWNYtherednosereindeer · 18/12/2005 12:49

Oh Nemo, you must have felt you were on a rollercoaster - all that uncertainty and worry - but all turned out well and happy in the end - so amazed that you kept yourself together! WELL DONE!!

expatinscotland · 18/12/2005 14:14

sooo happy for you all and that you didn't need a csection.

jenk1 · 18/12/2005 16:07

Congratulations Nemo, sorry you had to go through all that but hey- worth it in the end!

scully · 18/12/2005 16:13

Wow Nemo, what a story! Good that they left you to have a chance of delivering naturally, but Hannah kept you guessing for a while how it was all going to turn out
