Just wanted to share this lovely article by the author J G Ballard's daughter, she lost her mum at a young age and was brought up by her father. We can all wonder whether we are doing a good job on our own, but I was very moved by this article and it made me think that love is the important thing and if we give them that then we cannot go too far wrong, hope it helps others as well.

How wonderful !

Great lesson we could all do with learning. Sometimes we try to hard to do too much when its not necessary - we should try and chill

A lovely article. I can particularly relate to her comments about cooking - my dad had me cooking all weekend meals at 14, just told me to tell what he should buy at the shop. I also, like the writer of the article, have no sympathy for anyone who says they cannot cook

There are disadvantages DD - wanted to cook this weekend and I wasn't allowed in the kitchen, when I finally got in I swear she had shaken a bag of flour into the air.

Still her cakes tasted better than mine would.
