Has anyone out there read this book by Rosemary Kay?
It's absolutely wonderful. It's a true story about her son, born at 23 weeks, told from his viewpoint. I won't give the story away by going into too much detail, but if you haven't read it and get the chance, it's a really life changing, life-enhancing experience.
Sorry if it's already been mentioned on mumsnet somewhere, but I didn't have time to do a search.

Thanks sobernow. I heard about the screenplay, but don't remember seeing anything about it at the time. Do you still know her?

Funnily enough, there is a play on BBC2 next week about a very prem baby and the impact his arrival has on his parents, called "This Little Life". I wonder if it's her screenplay?

I hope so Marina, I'll look out for it.

when is it on Marina - my prem was a 'healthy ' 28 wks but my good friend's baby was 23 wks and 5 days. They're both now 2 yrs old but i'd love to see the play.

Marina, I was thinking of you a lot when I read the book. It will be tough, but I think it will be worthwhile. The book really changed the way I think about the whole issue and about all our lives. Perhaps you could tape the play and watch it after you've read the book?

Actually, I think the coincidence of all this is amazing. The book came out in 2000, but I've only just found it in the library. Now the play is on next week and the only reason I found out about that is because I did this post (I'm great at totally missing trailers for things I wanted to watch.) Wow, thanks ladies.

Wednesday 19th March, 9.00pm, BBC2.
I think it will be one to video for me and other Mumsnetters too, but from what's been said here it sounds like a very important story to be told. And a very touching one at that.

yes. The book is wonderful too, as it's all told from the baby's viewpoint. This makes it absolutely magical and full of hope.
I'll never be the same again after reading this book, in a GOOD way. She's a very clever lady.

sobernow, if you do decide to contact her again, give her my best wishes.
She'll probably say, Who the x#~$% is droile?!

Do you know if she's still writing?

This was an excellent drama and one I would have missed if it wasn't for Mumsnet. Sat there on my own in the spare roon sorting out dd's grownouts ready for an NCT sale with tears streaming down my face.

I'm really cross, I set the video recorder last night, and yes, It didn't record because we'd had a power cut and the date was wrong on the TV. I rarely get to watch TV and this was something I wanted to watch. I couldn't believe it when I turned on the TV in bed to watch it. Grrr!

Any kind soul who would be willing to let me borrow a copy, I'll happily pay for tape and postage etc.

I sobbed my heart out at it, then went upstairs and sat by both my kid's beds just looking at them sleeping and thinking how lucky I was.

Alibubbles - i've taped it , i'll happily send it to you, i'll email you direct for the address later on . Having had 2 prems myself (28 and 32 wks) i found it very hard to watch, but it was extremely well done and definitely worth seeing.

I got the book from the library. Went to Waterstones to order it the other day, but the paperback is out of print. I've ordered hardback.
Can't stress enough that this is a must-read. There are thoughts in there beyond your wildest dreams. Supremely uplifting. I wish they would reprint in paperback.

Thanks Mabs, that is really kind, my DS wants to see it too, she is a trainee (mature)midwfe at Addenbrookes in SCUBU at the moment and was working, her DH is in Kuwait so she didn't get it taped either!

Thanks again
