I know you have to commit 60 hours to the training. But does anyone know any more about it.

I am considering doing this.

Hello! Yes I've done the training. Its very interesting, life affirming, inspiring and sometimes draining. It was very introspective. Lots of one to one work and group work.

The first half was theory based. Then you have to pass an interview to do the 2nd half of the course. 2nd half much more practical : practicing councilling techniques; pychodynamic and CBT.

Looking at your own life and problems was hard. Seeing other people upset was hard.

I'm sure they advise (wisely) that you shouldn't do the course if you have had a major bereavement in the past two years. And even then a few of my peers became terribly upset, either because they were re - living raw, emotional distress, or because they were learning about themselves and how they think. One woman had to drop out, she had lost her husband.

I am so glad I did it. It was inspiring. I feel I can help people much more in my line of work. And I have inadvertently helped myself to accept losses of my own.

It made me appreciate my life a lot more too.

But it is not for the faint hearted!
