Waiting for probate

Stuck and can’t move on, everything is taking so long.
Took us a while to find all the information for the estate and opted to engage solicitors to complete the forms for HMRC & probate.
Solicitors submitted forms to HMRC mid February for the code that’s then needed for probate.
Apparently there's a back log and we’re still waiting for the code. Gov website says 2-4 weeks but it’s been nearly 14.
I can chase it up because it was the solicitor who submitted it.
Feel like I sat in limbo.
Is anyone else still waiting?

Just to update, have had an email from solicitors with the invoice from court, so I’m assuming HMRC did the code and grant of probate is on its way

I don't know how I managed this but I applied for probate on a Tuesday, was expecting to be waiting at least three months, but I got it on the following Sunday!!!

I've no idea how that happened. Five days!

Ours was quick too - we used a solicitor to do everything, but I had gathered all the information and spent some time double checking everything. It did take the 20 working days for the HMRC code to come through in May, but the grant was issued within 2 weeks of submitting it online.
