I have just collected my lovely mums ashes today - and learnt something I didn't know.

I have always been under the impression over the years that, when you get your little urn with your loved ones ashes in, that it is just a little spadeful of them so to speak.
I'm not explaining myself well here at all am I?
Anyway, apparently the ashes you get are ALL OF THEM. I'm really chuffed. I was just under the impression they put some of the pile of whats left after the cremation in the urn and thats that. But no.
So I HAVE ALL OF MY MAM IN THE KITCHEN and I have a warm feeling that she is ALL THERE.
I will shut up now, but will say I am impressed. x

We hope to scatter them near the tree where my brothers ashes are. (he was 22 when he died) It is what she would have liked. x

It is next to the gardens of a local stately home. There is a small orchard at the back and its very peaceful. My brother used to do work experience there too when he was younger. It's nice also sad too as we have our wedding photos in the grounds with mum on looking so happy. Can't believe I'm having this conversation! Didn't expect this all to happen. Life eh!!!

That's nice

My mum still has my dad in the wardrobe - he died 4 years ago. She likes having him at home. Don't be in a hurry if you enjoy having her with you

Sorry to hear about your loss, but glad the ashes have given you comfort. i remember being surprised by how little was left of my great big Father, lol! So nice you have a good scattering spot you can visit too.

Jane, it's strange how having them at home with you (albeit in a different form!) is so comforting! I have my nanny in my wardrobe! Dd2 (stillborn 2 months ago ) was going to go in there with her but we currently have her in the lounge, and I actually really like her being there.
