Hi, I lost my Dad early last year. I thought I was coping ok.... but maybe not. Has anyone sourced counselling from Cruise. Did it help at all? X

I phoned cruise a couple of times and they were wonderful. I’ve been in therapy and supervision and I’m trained in a related discipline, so I’ve had experience of bad support. Both times I called they were really excellent. I assume the ongoing counselling is as good.
I’m so sorry for your loss.

Depending on where you live the council might also offer it. DD (London) got six sessions after her dad died.

If the local Hospice was involved in any way at all, many Hospices offer counselling. Ours offers 20 sessions!

Yes I did - via Cruse that then referred me on to the local service. There was waiting list of several months and in fact they advise not to do it too soon as grief is too raw.

I found it really did help me. I was surprised as I didn't really understand what was special about 'grief counselling' - wasn't it just talking to no end? but in fact I'd recommend it. The benefit really is that the counsellors are specialised in grief so that you have a dedicated outlet to talk about how youare feeling and often I got insights from teh counsellor about why I was feeling like something and that it was common for particular reasons - which helped me understand myself.

I found it like having someone hold your hand as you walk along a rocky path in high heels.

Definitely would recommend it especially if you have continuing grief.
