I hope this is ok to post here. A close relative of mine sadly has incurable cancer. The cancer has spread to their brain and they have had to a scan to determine if it has spread elsewhere too. There will be a meeting in a weeks time about the next steps but I think there will be no further treatment available. DR is so poorly now. Weak, frail, stumbling. Still eating small amounts but the last few months has really deteriorated and sadly looks like a different person. They are only in their only 60s. It’s so sad to see them like this. In two weeks time they will be going into respite care at the local hospice for two weeks but we are really worried this will be the end. I was wondering if anyone can share their experience please of respite care

Hi, so sorry you are going through this. I don't have experience of respite care, but when my relative went into hospice care they died within a couple of weeks. There were people in the hospice who stayed for short periods and then left when they had stabilised. Stopping eating completely happened about 2 weeks before death. It was not an easy time for us, I hope you have lots of support around you.
