Christmas cards

I've received my first christmas card today, with a hand written note actually saying 'wishing you all very Happy Christmas and New Year'

The sender was at my husband's funeral 9 months ago.

Surely if you take the time to write that, would it not cross your mind to maybe, just maybe, instead write , 'Thinking of you all this Christmas and New Year' ?
Rant over

Yes it's thoughtless and I don't see the point in sending Xmas cards if they're just written out on autopilot like that.

I'm sorry for your loss and hope that you get through Xmas ok Flowers

Sorry for your loss OP. It’s about to be my first Christmas without a very special loved one and I’ve had several cards already similar to this. It does trigger a flash of disbelief doesn't it?!

@Juliejuly and @WeThreeKingsofOrientAre, I'm so sorry for your losses. Christmas can be such a difficult and lonely time for those who are grieving, it can make you feel even more isolated.

@Potterie and @tortiecat thank you.

How very thoughtless. Where I come from Christmas cards aren't sent to people who have had a breavement in the year - instead a 'thinking of you' type card/ note is sent instead with a personal message.

Sorry for your loss.

It's thoughtless. I always write: thinking of you and remembering (loved one's name). I'm sorry for your loss, this will be a tough Christmas for you
