Help for a child who has lost her Mum

I work in pastoral care at a High School and am currently supporting an 11 year old girl who lost her Mum to cancer a year ago. She is having official counselling, but relies on me a lot to get through the day, which I'm very happy to do. She has quite low self confidence, can become very angry and is starting to push boundaries, but she opens up to me a lot. I so desperately want to help her, and just wonder whether any of you have any appropriate ideas or suggestions with how best to help her please. Thank you

Contact Wistons Wish, they have amazing advice and resources for grieving children.

Agree that Winstons Wish are generally considered a good source of information and resources. I also wanted to say thank you as the mum of a 10 year old with low self-confidence who will be starting high school in September almost a year after her dad died. Obviously, you almost certainly don't work at the same school but it helps to know that people like you are hopefully going to be there.

Thank you both. Winston's Wish is exactly what I was looking for. I wish your son a smooth transition to High School, and I truly hope that he gets the support that he needs.

If you're in the SE, Jigsaw is another good charity for supporting bereaved children
