I have just seen this programme, it was incredibly well done and very moving! I hope it helps similar families who find themselves in the same situation.

Am crying my eyes out after that .

It is an incredible programme and I think very brave of the families to allow their last precious moments to be filmed.

What was lovely is that it was very respectful and not too intrusive.

I am very moved..

I have just watched it too. Tried to pretend I was filing my nails whilst watching in the hope that my husband would not see the tears trying to roll down my cheeks.

i have recorded this as it is at the moment to painful to watch my lovely husband has a terminal brain tumour. we have three children with autism and we are looking for ways to explain things to them. well i say we are looking sadly because if steves brain tumour he has bad memory loss which means mostly he forgets that he has a terminal DX i never forget and the kids are blissfully unaware.

The counsellor is an amazing lady.
Such a sad programme, but also positive in the way the families were supported.

OJ I'm so sorry about your husband. Just for note, the counsellor on mummy diaries is someone who is involved in a charity called winston's wish. This may have come out on the programme - I'm afraid I couldn't watch it this evening. The charity provided some very helpful advice to someone I know well.

i have had a look on the winstons wish website but can't really find anything useful for kids with autism, they have a animated video but not sure if any good for our three and it is £40 and less then 15 mins long. i would buy it but not sure if it is appropiate for my three i have already brought loads of books but can't see any of them being useful for kids with autism.

Hi OnlyJoking, don't know if you are aware but there is another charity called SeeSaw which is based in Oxfordshire, they produce a pack for children with a learning difficulty, it costs £12 but i think it is worth it.

thanks for that i have just had a look at seesaw but can't find any books mentioned, i have emailed them so will wait and see.

onlyjoking - sorry I stumbled upon your message and I found this book: www.nas.org.uk/nas/jsp/polopoly.jsp?a=14292&d=544

I am not sure if this would help you or not - my son is autistic as well, but it may be worth contacting the NAS to see if they have any resources for you?

Best of luck, and I am sorry to hear your news

onlyjoking9329 · 09/11/2007 15:19

thanks for the link, that book is for more able/older kids, i have been in touch with the NAS, nothing suitable thou.
