Hi all,

I have just experienced my 6th miscarriage. I was 11 weeks pg and I found out the other day that my twins had died. This is the 3rd time that the pregnancy has got further than 8 weeks and then just enned. Unfrotaunatley for all times, I have had to have a curette.

The other 3 m/c were all quite early (approx 2 - 3 weeks) and ended on their own accord, but the pg was confirmed from blood tests.

In trying to come to terms with it - again - I have been doing a bit of a search on the internet and discovered a thread that a member on this forum had posted in October last year about pregancies not making it past 8 weeks or so. I am really interested in finding out whether bunny2 has got any further information about what is going on with her.

I live in Victoria Australia and due to the past m/c's I am under fertility specialists. I have also had 3 failed IVF cycles that are not included in the 6 m/c mentioned above. I am 34 years old and feel like my options are running out.

Any advice from Bunny2 or anyone that has info on preganancies just stopping after 6 - 8 weeks would be greatly appreciated.

Wtih thanks,
Hayseed

I'm so sorry Hayseed, what an awful time you must have had.

I'm sure Bunny will contact you, she is actually pregnant now, and I think is about 14 weeks.

Hope you can get some help...

Hi, I have had a number of MC's (approx 6) and was diagnosed with PCOS which means my ovaries produce hormones that make pg unviable - I had diathermy treatment and had an ectopic prg then had my daughter but was monitored until 14 weeks hope this helps

Gosh Hayseed, firstly I am so sorry for what you are going through, your heart must be breaking. Big hug to you.

Do you have a book called "Miscarraige, what every woman needs to know" by Lesley Regan. I have it and can post it/ look things up in it for you. I read it many many times trying to find answers for my miscarriages. She offers lots of hope even to women such as you who have suffered so many times.

I had tests done after 2 miscarriages although they normally do them after 3 (I had a sympathetic consultant). They tested for a condition called antiphospholipid antibody syndrome which accounts for many cases of recurrent miscarriage. It affects the blood and makes it clot therefore affecting the supply to the baby. I got negative results for this but still decided to take baby aspirin every day to thin my blood. I am now 18 wks pregnant and still taking the aspirin so maybe it did help. Aspirin is often prescribed in the USA to women who miscarry for whatever reason.

My homrmones were also tested so things such as polycystic ovary syndrome were ruled out. Again the tests were negative so no anwers there.

My consultant maintained throughout my investigations that he suspected in my case it was just very bad luck to have 2 miscarriages in a row. After he had tested me for the most common or likely culprits I accepted my supposed bad luck and got pg again. As I have said, so far this pregnancy has been successful.

Pls let me know if I can provide any more info - I can certainly have a look in the Regan book but if you can get yourself a copy it might help you alot. Most women will go on to have a successful pregnancy and I think most conditions are treatable. You still have time on your side, I am 38 and also had the fear of time slipping away but there are many women having babies in their 40s so take heart, you have time.

I'll check back later. XX

Thanks for the replies. Bunny2, this time round I was already on mini asprin (100mg/day). I was also on twice daily doses of progesterone (Crinone gel). And on top of this I was taking some fancy vitamin/mineral supplement that has supposedly been scientifically proven to reduce spina bifida occurance. And I rested. But all to no avail . I am really putting a lot on the results of the curette as I have nothing else. Except of course, that I have extremely bad luck and just have to wait for my number to come up.

It's is heartening to hear the stories of others that have had a bad time of it and are now pg.

I'm guessing from the banner ads on this website that this is an English website??? As I am in Australia, I will chase down the book suggested rather than impose on someone sending it to me. Thanks for the offer though!

Hopefully in a few weeks I can report back with some better news.

Regards,
Hayseed
