Sian Hughes on Womans Hour - listen if you can

Woman's Hour home page here

She has won a major poetry prize for her long poem about having a termination when her third child was found to have Down's. She reads some of it out and it's very moving - you can hear the tears in her voice, and in the interview afterwards.

(I hope this won't upset any of the mothers here who have children with Down's. It's mostly about loss and grief.)

Hi Jan, I've just listened to this with tears streaming down my face. I am feeling emotional at the moment anyway but it was extremely moving.

Those who've missed it you can listen again on the BBC website - it's well worth it.

Yes, me too, anorak - I was looking for a link to post when I saw your message.

Just caught it as I was eating my shreddies this morning. Sobbed all over DS2's head. I've always found it hard to understand how writers can put a voice to such sadness, however, bizarrely, and despite the tears, I'm glad they can.
