Hello, wondering if anyone had any inspiration aside from flowers for a gift to send a friend who has recently lost her mother? Does anyone have any recommendations on possible meal vouchers, or a present that would be well received? Tia!

I did crossstitch when I was bereaved. I'd never done it before but it was just the thing to absorb me and comfort me...it's so repetative and relaxing. Would she be the sort to enjoy a bit of cross stitch? If not, a lovely selection of things from Lush.

A basket of stuff. Nice tissues, rescue remedy spray, sleep mist, a book, boiled sweets, a nice bottle of wine, lip salve - that kind of thing.

To be honest, although it's a nice idea to show you're thinking of her, a gift isn't really going to make any difference. What will make a difference, IME, is in 6 months, or 12 months or two years, when everyone else has forgotten or thinks she must be over it, ask her how she's doing, give her a chance to talk about her mum. The hardest time is the first anniversary. Sorry, I know that wasn't what you were asking.

I was given a lovely candle, quite plain and non scented, but lovely. I've lit it on the anniversary of my dear moms death, for 2 years running.
Hope that helps.

Agree with Biscuit, you don't really need to send a gift. My Dad died on Christmas Eve, I think that cards and letters are lovely but nothing else is necessary. I also think that sending a card/email on each anniversary shows that you are thinking of them - I do this for my friend whose mother died a few years ago.
