My mum was 77 and she had a severe stroke 4 years ago. It left her partially paralysed, unable to speak or swallow food and eventualy she had to go into a nursing home. Received a call from them yesterday that her condition had deteriolised, has septis and had v low blood pressure, v low temperature and, although was on antibiotics, may well not make it. Went to see her yesterday and today, after being told her breathing was getting v shallow which meant she was nearing the end of her life. Altjough, in a way, the mum i had died 4 years ago, as she was unable to to communicate to us in any meaningful way, it's just so hard seeng her like this. Have also been caring for my dad, who has dementia and is visually impaired, so it's a double whammy. Can't cope with it all right now...

Just posted this on fb and someone put a 'like' on it. How fucking insensitive is that?? How can you 'like' someone who is facing their mum's death?!

I am so sorry. This is so hard. I can only offer you my sympathy and empathy. Death is a monster. But without it, no life, I suppose.

Thinking if you. It's so very hard to say good bye. Sounds like you are doing a great job support your dad too. Hope she passes peacefully Thanks.

Lots of people use 'likes' on Facebook to mean that they have heard or perhaps to appreciate your Mum or something you have written about her. So if you wrote 'My wonderful Mum is dying....'. They have liked the 'wonderful' part not the 'dying' part.
