Is there going to be a mumsnet collection to send flowers for Aillidh?

Hope so

duchesse · 08/07/2012 15:51

Although some families prefer not to have flowers but a donation- might be worth double-checking with expat, not that they've necessarily considered it yet.

duchesse · 08/07/2012 15:51

I mean a donation to a cause.

BellaVita · 08/07/2012 15:57

Have flowers donations been done for others though on here that have lost their children?

It is a lovely thought, but we need to think of the bigger picture.

Mumof2 lost her son last week.

RabidAnchovy · 08/07/2012 16:44

I know we do not do it for everyone, I was just wondering as there have been so many people here and on Face book that have been following Aillidh and ExPat.

I am not for one moment trying to take away from anyone else who has had a loss.

I shall wait and see what the general consensus is but I would like to make a donation for flowers/ Charity/ family or whatever is being done

I will donate £100 to Anthony Nolan Trust in Aillidhs memory.

It costs £100 to for each person to be registered, they charge nothing for this though.

Aillidh has left a lasting legacy. Through her heartbreaking journey and the courage of her loving parents to share that journey with us, many more people have the chance to be saved through Bone Marrow Transplants.

R.I.P Aillidh. I did not Know you, but, your beautiful smile will live on in our hearts forever.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 08/07/2012 20:43

Lots of people donated to a fund to support Expat and her family through this. I don't know how that fund stands at the moment.

Timandra · 08/07/2012 21:45

I think perhaps it would be nice to ask Expat to nominate a cause that MNers can donate to direct in Aillidh's name.

She may well choose the Anthony Nolan trust but she and her family might also have something else in mind.

I think we should leave it to Expat and her family to decide how best to use the fund that is already in existence.#

duchesse · 09/07/2012 00:42

That fund may help pay for a funeral I guess. Sad

SundaeGirl · 09/07/2012 00:45

Can someone link to the fund thread? Thanks

Elephantscantdothemoonwalk · 09/07/2012 07:44

I donated to anothny nolan.

ExitPursuedByABear · 09/07/2012 07:50

I think donations to a cause nominated by Expat would be the most appropriate thing.

I agree it feels right to do something as we have all been touched by Aillidh's life.

ExitPursuedByABear · 09/07/2012 07:51

duchesse - I have pmd you the paypal details that were sent to me for the fund.

ExitPursuedByABear · 09/07/2012 07:53

And you SundaeGirl

ps - I didn't donate as I don't know how to use paypal Blush

Jux · 09/07/2012 08:50

PayPal went mental with all the donations coming and we were asked to stop until it was sorted out. I haven't seen anything which says it has been, but psycho and giraffes have had other things on their minds. Does anyone else know anything?

Longtalljosie · 09/07/2012 09:01

Perhaps Expat could nominate a charity we could all donate to in Aillidh's name? It might be the Anthony Nolan Trust but if there's another charity which means a lot to the family perhaps that one...?

Frontpaw · 09/07/2012 09:04

The is a one for children with leukemia. Also ELF.

Timandra · 09/07/2012 21:56

I think we have our answer. This was posted on FB.

"T&R O'Brien funeral directors will be contacted tomorrow and we will shortly announce funeral arrangements. Aillidh's Requiem Mass will be at St Aloysius RC Church in Glasgow with interment at Lambhill Cemetary. All will be welcome. We would like donations to Anthony Nolan Trust, ACLT or Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research."

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 09/07/2012 22:03

Yes, we can definitely donate to those fantastic causes, but is there any way of checking if Expat and family could use / would like the money for anything else?

I'm thinking practically here, spending lots of time at a hospital costs loads and that on top of loss of earnings might have left them in a difficult situation (I have no idea if this is the case). I'd be really keen to make sure that they're not struggling financially, and then donate any left over money to those charities.

YellowDinosaur · 09/07/2012 22:43

Please could someone pm me the paypal details for the fund as I would like to donate to it too

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/07/2012 10:52

I'm not sure what's happening with the fund. PayPal got a bit twitchy with the sudden influx of funds and i've not heard whether or not that's been resolved yet. Sorry I can't be more help.

RabidAnchovy · 11/07/2012 10:27

ExPat posted this on Face book,
Hope it is ok to put here
