just made a little posy for my sons grave.

i used some sort of randown folliage from the bushes in my garden, i have no idea what that bush is called, and crythathums in a purple and yellow.

i used a little oasis and a plastic dish and put them in that, not sure how well they will last, we will see.

anway was ust wondering what sort of flowers others find last well and how you keep them?

ive noticed in the churchyard some people have the vase holders and i see alot of carnations that type of thing, but our sons headstone will not go down for another 4 months at least

I am so sorry for your loss OP.

I don't want to put a damper on this but is it a Church of England Churchyard? If so, there are Diocesan Churchyard Guidelines which only allow certain colour of stone, style of memorial etc. Most won't allow plastic flowers and quite often plastic ornaments. Each Diocese will have their own set of guidelines.

If you don't want to say where you live on here feel free to PM me and I can find the guidelines for you.

Plastic ones? no joke, on ebay they have flowers like you would have at a funeral with say for instance, (mum) (dad) (son) (brother) ect and all done in plastic flowers, i bought my aunt for her funeral a gorgeus pillow type thing with plastic flowers, it truly was beaut then i found out she was being cremated lol honestly have a look on ebay, plastic flowers will last for years xxx just remember to put something through them to keep them to the ground when its windy xxx

So sorry for your loss. My son was stillborn last july. Weve found roses last well and dont get eaten by rabbits. Gladiolli apparently dont either nor do daffodils. Every other type we just leave in the cellophane in a vase to stop them being eaten.

Noticed you were looking at other things for the grave. For our son we ordered a lovely vase and mobile from ebay. I also bought those wooden train letters in his name and painted and varnished them to go on as a marker until his headstone came.

There is a peter rabbit website that does resin garden figures that will be fine outside. Poundstretcher and b&m do lots of garden stakes and lights that are lovely for the grave too.

So very sorry to you all on the losses of your children. Sad

I have just bought a small lavender plant for my mums grave. Its planted I a heavy pot to stop it from blowing over. It looks nice.

There are a lot of stones with fresh flowers at my mums graveyard, but they look really scruffy if left for too long without being tidied up. I tend not to go that often now, so wanted something a bit longer lasting.
