Oh god, second one mentioned here today. SadSad

Practical suggestion from other thread: office whip-round to help bridge stupid financial stuff like bank accounts being frozen/closed/empty.

And she may, later, appreciate help with admin - sorting out whose name the gas bill is in, car insurance, MOT etc. It goes on for months as renewals fall due.

So very sorry.

Don't know if you have looked at the other thread today, but I recommended Winston's Wish as a great source of help for bereaved children.

Also, your friend will find a lot of support from people going through the same thing on the Merry Widow website and message board - it's for mainly younger widows (and widowers), and I found it very helpful in the first year or so.

My DH died in a similar way - very sudden, just collapsed and died (sudden cardiac arrest) - and the shock is immense. I was pretty much in a daze for weeks, so anything you can do for your friend now is good - don't wait for her to ask for something specific, take the initiative and ask her what two or three things you could cook for her to have ready in the fridge or freezer, or ask her for a shopping list, or offer to take the children out for a while. And if she says no now, keep offering over the next weeks and months, rather than doing the usual 'If there's anything I can do...' and waiting for her to come to you.

That's awful. Thinking of you and his family.
