Hi ladies,

I am looking for some advice regarding what is available or wot I may be offered after having had another m/c.

I have been on heparin jabs, aspirin and progesterone for four weeks. Would've have been about 8 weeks p/g now. I have started to m/c. This is the 5th time this has happened.

I am under the recurrent m/c clinic at Queen Charlottes. Prof. Bennett is my consultant. Is anyone else being seen by him?

Has anyone expereinced the same or have any advice?

No advice but just to say how sorry I am.
Do you have any children yet?
Take care.

Hi peepee,
I have CAT you some information about an organisation called Foresight. They specialise in preconceptual care they can test for vitamin and mineral defincies . Levels of toxicity to certain pollutants that could be causing a problem. They might be useful.

Have been reading my 'Planning a baby' book it says 'it is now thought that recurrent miscarriages may be caused by an immunological compatabilty between the mother and the baby' as the fetus contains cells from the father the body is rejecting the fetus the same way it does when organs are transplanted.
Has anyone mentioned this possibility to you?
Apparently there are succesful treatments being trialed.

Have you spoken to the miscarriage association. They might be able to give you some pointers on what you should being asking your consultant.
Hope your OK.

There's new stuff happening all the time Peepee and I really hope someone finds an answer for you. There's some research in the States that is setting out to show that some women really can't carry boys (not just an old wives' tale after all, perhaps?). There was also something in the papers a few weeks back showing that some steroid drugs, used for asthmatics can help - but this is all in very early stages. I had my dd nearly eight years ago and had five miscarriages trying to have another baby.
You don't say your age or whether you have other children. I know I'm so grateful for my daughter.
I tried Foresight and it's certainly worth a go, but it failed for me and they're all very sargent-majory there and kind of barked down the phone at me, making me feel it was my fault.
The heparin thing was discounted by St Mary's etc etc so I was left with the 'just bad luck' answer. After the last miscarriage they said I should consider IVF and I couldn't deal with the expense, the what-if-it-fails feeling and so on. I really feel for you, the problem is there aren't any concrete answers, there are no guarantees. It's so upsetting and you just don't know where to turn.
I agree with Cori that the MA are really good with practical info as well as sympathy. Good luck and all good wishes.
Have you got an appointment with your consultant yet?
