My uncle passed away yesterday, and became a hero

My uncle passed away yesterday aged 58, very suddenly from a stroke.

He has become a hero by donating his organs to help those who need them. The hospital managed to transplant his heart, lungs, one kidney, corneas and heart valves.

Ret in peace Uncle Paul, you may be gone, but you will live on through the people you have given life to. xxx

My sister-in-law's sister had a lung transplant 2.5 years ago.

I didn't believe in miracles before I saw the difference it made to her life, and the life of her family. She has 2 children, aged (at the time) 13 and 15. They now have a mother who can walk more than 10 meters and who has a life expectancy which is much longer than the months she had left when she had the operation. Last time I saw her was at Christmas, she was ringing the church bell to welcome everyone in to the Christmas service. Previously she couldn't talk without getting out of breath.

So thanks to your uncle and your family, and all families who agree to let their loved ones live on in the people who they have donated to.

Thanks everyone. I think I will find it easier and comforting that he helped so many people after he died.

He was disabled, born normal but had a reaction to an immunisation when he was two years old. Despite that he still managed to get a job and live a lovely life, holidaying to Blackpool twice a year.

Fantastic legacy that can go on to do so much good after a person's death. I gave blood for the first time one month after my 17th birthday (I'll be 35 next month) and I got my organ donor card from the doctor's surgery on the day I turned 18. These things are so important that I have become something of an evangelist about them in the last 17/18 yes.

RIP to the OP's Uncle Paul, and best wishes to all his family and friends. What a guy!!
