Scooter boy - trashing shoes. What to do?

Aside from stopping him scooting, obviously!

I would like to get some shoes that will either withstand sone degree of front-toe braking, or stop him using his shoes as a brake. He DOES use his brake, but can forget, and drags his toe along the ground - hence the fact his shoes aren't lasting more than about two weeks at the moment. Any ideas about brands of shoe/styles that might help?

I sympathise - my DS has got through 3 pairs of shoes this summer!!

He was wearing cheap pumps and they were awful and didn't last 2 minutes, so I've bought some proper Clarks ones - shoes not pumps - and they seem better as the plastic sole is harder.

I've found that putting him in open toed sandals has encouraged him to use the brake more

ah, you see the Clarks were the first to be trashed - at £30 a pop, I rapidly decided against getting any more of those...

I did wonder about open-toed sandals, but worry that DS might trip up when charging about - he is rather an active child

No advice but we are suffering the same - fortunately he wore out a pair of sale shoes from Mothercare (£5). I actually let him still wear them just for scooting!

ah, if he was a girl I'd say these or similar as the rubber toecaps are fabulously tough

Personally I have given up on dd - I keep one pair for best and use 'deep scuff cover' on the other pair once a week or so.

I bought DD some rubber toe'd canvas shoes for messing about in the garden etc. I didnt fancy her new clarks £30 jobbies getting scuffed to bits.

Her "garden Shoes" as she calls them were only £5 in Asda.

Put him in sandals

He'd only do it once .....
