Help! Worried mum - breech head

Any experiences/advice welcomed...

My little boy is 6 weeks old. I had hm by CS as he was breech. When he was born he had a very long shaped head as he had been stuck under my ribs. Paediatrician said there may be cause for concern but to wait until 6 week check at GP's.

Seen GP today who has looked at his head circumference measurements and felt his head, she now wants him to be seen again by Paediatrician as she is concerned that she can't feel his fontanelle at the back and the one at the front is too small. She says is bones have begun to fuse he may have to have them separated!!!

I now feel physically sick and completely helpless. Does anyone have any experience of this? He is otherwise a bright , alert wee boy.

Thanks

Well, my daughter was born early (preeclampsia) and was breech and was stuck under my ribs and had a little bean shaped head when she was born. She also had a clicky hip (which I was more worried about to be honest).

It was watched by doctors, who thought it could lead to problems holding her head/muscle tone but was fine.

It quickly sorted itself and by month 3 you couldn't tell it. It was never that bad really, only a slight indent on one side of her head.

I'm sure it will be fine and be reassured they are monitoring.

Go with what the paed says, the GP is likely to be being cautious (though it seems it has the opposite effect by sparking terror)

thank you - hate waiting...

I think when the skull bones fuse too early there is a relatively simple operation to un-fuse them. Not a nice proposition but nothing sinister either. Please try not to worry.
