thinking of getting ergo carrier for LO who is 7 months.baby has never been in a sling or really only once before! so question for you ladies is - is this too late? It would really help with taking LO out and about.

Also the ergo only does forward facing at the back i think - so would a 7 month old hate front facing in the front position if not used to it? be lovely if babs wanted to doze of in it too on me instead of having to have formal naps

Tried baby bjorn when LO was younger and screamed - so never went back to it.but want to try again with different sort.

thanks

7 months s the ideal time to get an Ergo. I got mine about then and still use it for my 24 month old. Babybjorns are crap- uncomfortable for you and the baby. My ds loves the ergo and it is still incredibly comfortable for me too.
Do you have a sling meet near you? Might be worth getting along to one so you can try it before you splash out. I didn't find the Patapum as comfortable, but for some people it's a good alternative, for about half the price

Can I just recommend the Beco- think very similar to the ergo, but I got mine for cheaper. I love it! 11mo dd sleeping in it as a type. My dh uses it with her all the time as well.

That isn't to say there's anything wrong with the ergo, as I haven't tried it, but just to give you other options.

Good luck!

The ergo is the best money I spent on baby item. So good, in 20 months I've not bought a pram. I think woven wraps are a shade more comfortable and very good for young babies but the ergo won'tbe hot and is quick to put on front or back. Oh, and I found it easy to breastfeed in it. She does her nap everyday in it as I do shopping or walk around a museum.

I also have a patapum (good for its higher back) and a toddlerhawk, but this is what we plump for most days. The sleep hood is good on it.

They have amazing resale value if you don't get on with it. Spirit of naturesometimes have deals

I also didn't start DD in the Ergo until she was 6 months - her legs were too short for it before then. Stopped using it around 20 months, when I found it was easier just to carry her in my arms if she didn't want to walk.

I only did front carries - she was quite happy facing towards me throughout that time. It isn't too difficult for them to look out sideways.

(I did try the back carry - I just didn't find it as comfortable as front, so stuck with the latter.)

I agree with vesela, I found the back carry, although alright, didn't sit high enough up the back for it to be as comfortable and so affected my posture slightly, but still fine for a 1-2 hr nap, plus you have hands free.

Mei tais are good for back carries as you can get them up high. So are wraps but they can be a faff if you're on your own with bags and a wriggly baby.
