THe past few weeks Jess has managed to do the following which has really stunned me and DH...

  • Cover her mouth when she coughs
  • Colour co-ordinate her stacking cups ie. small orange cup in large orange cup, small pruple cup in large purple cup etc
  • All the actions to twinkle twinkle little star... including a very good attempt at the "diamond"

Is she normal or just a clever little girl??? She's only 12.5 months old?!

Yeah, I've got to echo that! What you emphasise or promote makes all the difference. I think my freind was a bit startled because my dd, age 2.5 (now I AM having a boast!) can write a couple of letters from the alphabet. But I hastened to explain that during those long, long hours of single mothering with no daycare, I have sat down with her and shown her how to write the first letter of her name, and shown her the alphabet. On the other hand, she has only just learned to count to ten, which a lot of kids seem to be able to do when they are younger! But as a maths-hater, I simply have not emphasised the numbers as much.
