10mo clicking her teeth

My DD won't stop clicking her teeth! I say "no" when she does it but unlike when she makes a beeline for the TV unit I can tell she's really not sure what I'm saying "no" to.

Is it a phase? Any tips on discouraging it?

Does it really bother you then? Saying 'no' won't have much effect, I'm sure. If you must try to stop it, try distracting with something really exciting, make funny noises with her etc.

My dd did this for a short while. Probably a phase so I wouldn't worry about it.

My 10mo DS does this. Distraction is the best technique I find. I pass him a teether toy to chew or a breadstick or I pick him up and whirl him round to make him giggle.

Ds did this when his teeth were new.
He's now 15mo and has stopped. What a relief as the sound of him grinding his teeth went right through me!

It doesn't bother me, I suppose I'm just concerned it might not be the best thing for them! It's very loud so I think she's doing it quite hard.

Our dd did this too - horrible noise! Distraction's the best thing, plus she'll get over the excitement of having these new things in her mouth that make a funny noise. Teeth are pretty hard so I wouldn't worry about it too much - if you think about it her adult ones will withstand a lifetime of biting and grinding!
