Development advice for 1yr old

Hi

My DD2 has just turned 1. She seems a bit behind developmentally, she crawled a week before she turned 1. She's not saying any recognisable words yet. She's also terrible at feeding herself, for example I have just put down cooked brocolli, chicken and sweeet pot pieces and she just squishes it up but if I feed her with the spoon she's dying for it, just not wanting to feed herself. Also when DD1 was 1 I gave her cold milk out of a cup and never used a bottle again and this one flat out refuses to have her milk in her cup, she just throws it.

I have tried just ignoring it and thinking she'll drink when shes thirsty enough but she's just been in hopsital with gastroenteritis and she's lost weight.

So seeing as she seems a few months behind with everything should I just chill about trying to get the bottle off her and keep on with the finger foods??

Any advice on any of this welcome. I don't mind her being a bit slow with things its just my DD1 was walking and talking at 1 and I know they are all different but could use any good ideas about how to deal with it. I don't want to be too lax so it gets to the point where I can't get her to do these things, if she hadn't been ill I think I would just ignore it and think she'll eat/drink when she's hungry/thirsty enough so maybe I should just wait till she's gained a bit more weight and then be ruthless.

Sorry to go on

Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much, kie you said yourself, they are all different. It is really hard not to compare your childre though. DS walked at 10 months but DD was 13 months before she walked.
It is possible that because she has been ill, it may have set her development back slightly. It is more important that she gains weight and gets better again than to be ticking off developmental milestones. Your DD will get there in the end, I'm sure

Yes you're right, thanks. I think I'll keep giving her her milk in a bottle for a few more weeks until she's put a bit of weight back on then try again to phase it out
