shared bedrooms between brother and sister

What is the official guidelines on when brothers and sisters should stop sharing a bedroom. My son is 7 next month and my daughter will be 5, they have shared a bedroom since birth and we have never had any problems, I think we should now look at splitting the bedroom and giving them each their own bedrooms,as it is only a 2 bed house but my husband thinks they are okay for a couple of years. What do other people think.

My son is 7 and my daughter is 5 and they share a room atm, they like sharing. I don't think is any actually guidelines for sharing though a council will say the age is 10. I am moving soon so it won't be a problem for us for much longer.

Ds is 5 and DSD is 4 and they will have to share for the forseeable future!! Unfortunately we cant afford a 4 bed house!!

is your house big enough to split the room?? If its a large room I would consider it. Have you asked the kids how they feel about sharing?? They might like it. I know I asked my DS if he wanted to go into the small room and he said no, he wanted to share.

Room is plenty big enough to split, the kids love sharing but my son likes football and has a large collection of trophys and posters etc and wants to display them in his room and my daughter is very girly and wants a "pink" room as she calls it. We also have an added problem im pregnant with my 3rd child a boy, we live in a lovely cul-de-sac and dont want to move so i think splitting the room and maybe a small extension or conservatory will give us the space we need in the coming future. I believe doing it now will have the oldest 2 settled before the baby comes.

"official guidelines" .. well I knew we were verging on a nanny state but that seems a bit much

I think they'll be fine until they ask for their own rooms .. and would certainly think up until puberty would be no problem
