Standing up in the cot - please help me!!

My 12 mo DD has just learned to pull up to standing in the last week. It's not been too bad for nap & night sleep just had to go in a couple of times lay her down & she'll drop off. Until tonight that is....it's been over an hour now & me & DH (he did the first 40 mins) mustve been in to lay her down @ 75 times! Is there anything else we can do?!!! How long will this last? We both act very boring When we go in ie no interaction when we go in lay her down & come straight back out. She is so quick she's literally up by the time we leave the room. Think she now thinks it's a game. Trouble is she doesn't know how to lie down from standing. She can sit but again can't lie from sitting.

Any advice greatfully received!

Why are you lying her down, if you leave her she will learn to lie down. Sit in the room, read a book, wait.

And stop worrying.

By 14 months DS was standing on the bars of his cot and had to be put in a bed, your DD sounds like an angel in comparison!

If she's not grizzling then I'd leave her and see how she gets on. She's bound to lie down eventually.

Really? I'm worried she'll fall over & bump her head or something? First time parents - we've not a clue!

I agree. Leave her a little while to see what happens.
She has discovered a way to make mum and dad come running into her room - what fun!

Hope you get it sorted soon

She is crying in between our visits

They have very hard heads - don't sweat it.

And yes it's apparent it's your first one

Gro-bags/baby sleeping bags slow them down a bit

I'm also of the opinion though that you should just let her try and work it out herself if she's not distressed or trying to gate-vault the sides of the cot

She's in a gro bag which doesn't affect her new found activities. Just left her but she is getting really upset

My method has always been to lay child down sit down right next to cot and stare at floor - no eye contact.

child generally stays laying down and I gradually ease out of the room/ further away when they are not looking.

either that / I put away their clothes iyswim? just reassuring by my presence, and then sneaking out.

Everybody does it differently You'll be fine.

You could try getting a toy to tie to the cot that is at a low level so she has to lie down to poke at it - mirrors are good.

Eventually at 9.30 phew. Just started leaving her for longer intervals she wasn't happy in between but she eventually gave up. Thanks for the advice fingers crossed she doesn't get up again!
