ds does this when he decides he's not getting a quick enough response by yelling for "mummy" or "daddy".

I don't see what's wrong with calling mummy by her name. it could be worse, "Hey, you, bitch!!!"

DS1 sometimes calls me by my name. i don't mind but my DH thinks it's wrong. DS's friends call me by my name, not 'Aunty', which I can't stand.

My eldest dd started calling her dad (my dh!) by his name when she was just about old enough to talk, and has used it ever since ... and she's now 21!! She still calls me "mummy", but does it in a whiney voice and usually because she wants something (which involves money).

I live with my parents and i am a young mother of a 15 month old baby. She sometimes calls my mum, Mum and me by my name (or something that sounds like my name!) I just say that I am her mum and my mum is grandma. I'm sure she'll get it right someday. When she is upset though, she comes up to me crying Mummy!!! She knows who her own mummy really is.

My two started to experiment with our names a while back, and my dh got very upset. I didn't have a major problem with it, but told them that mummy and daddy were our special names that only they could use, and that seemed to sort it out (for now anyway)

I used to know a family who wouldn't answer their children if they used mummy and daddy - it was their names or nothing..

My DS (3.4) has started calling me by my name. I was going to start a thread about it the other day.

He will call me my name and then burst out laughing. He doesn't do it often, I choose to ignore him when he does it, but it doesn't bother me. I reckon it might confuse his nursery teacher though!
