Hes been out of them since about 4, at first all was okish, had the odd accident.

But over the last few months despite his daD GETTIGN HIM OUT OF BED 2-3 TIMES A NIGHT HE PEE'S THE BED EVERYNIGHT!

He seems fine, says theres nothing wrong but he just doesn't seem to makeany effort any more to hold it in or get to the loo.

DH decided to put a nappy on him tonight as we are washing all his sheets everyday!

Have their been any significant changes to his life? Starting school, change in nursery, new sibling?

Disenchanted3 · 13/06/2010 19:11

Nope, nothing, he started school in September but was OK around then.

I can't see it as anything emotional because nothing else has changed and hes same happy chap.

You can't train them to be dry at night
you just have to go with the nappies
it's normal until there are 7
so don't worry
you're dh must be knackered, give yourselves a break!

Disenchanted3 · 13/06/2010 19:13

really?

so its ok for him to go back to nappies?

i think he was a bit upset about it, but has one on now (he thinks noone knows apart from dad)

What a PITA. I remember my ds going through a similar phase at nursery but with poos instead . It was like he'd decided that now he knew HOW to go to the loo he didn't have to bother anymore. It got to the stage where we were having to take shitty pants home with us every evening, god the smell of those awful scented nappy bags with the offending article inside was disgusting [boak]. At the time it felt like it would never end but of course it did. Probably was a couple of months though.

Any chance you could use those bed mats from Pampers in the meantime? Then at least you wouldn't have to wash the sheets everyday or use nappies which I don't think is a good idea.

compo · 13/06/2010 19:16

I think it's fine to go back to nappies
it'll come in it's own time

Thandeka · 13/06/2010 19:17

try not to worry too much, my bro wet the bed until he was at least 7. In the end he had an alarm from the hospital which was in his pants at night and rang to wake him up if he wet the bad- gradually that trained him to wake up when his bladder was full.

He won't be wetting the bed forever.

CarGirl · 13/06/2010 19:27

I just wondered if he's more tired now and sleeping deeper.

One of my dds was very late in being reliably dry at night I just kept her in nappies.

CrankyTwanky · 13/06/2010 21:48

Hi.

Not really much advice, but you are sooo not alone.
I first discovered MN trying to find out if this was normal for my DD, who was wet at night until she was nearly 6.
I have never felt more relieved!

It's hormonal, apparently, and he will develop it in his own time, but there are nasal sprays for short-term use, I believe.

AngelDog · 14/06/2010 19:26

When my DH was little, he had one of those alarms that Thandeka mentioned. He would deliberately wee just to make the alarm go off...

Agree that at 5 it's totally normal; I wouldn't worry about it.

FabIsGettingFit · 14/06/2010 19:28

Nappies are fine.

Plenty of 5 year olds are still in night nappies and mine were 7 and 6 before they were dry at night.

You do know that lifting doesn't help, don't you?

MadameSin · 15/06/2010 17:42

Mine were 6 and 6 1/2 before dry at night
